If you are interested in moving on to grad school, then go for it! You probably will be triggered about a thousand times over, so you can modify what you do by going into research psychology instead of counseling. Counseling can be very draining and you don't want to put a strain on your mental health (lest you be unable to help more people), but research psychology can open a lot of doors for your career while giving you a deeper appreciation for mental health. If you decide you don't want to work in the mental health field at the end of grad school, a research psych degree gives you more options than a counseling degree (as in, you could work for a place like Social Security or for any company doing research whereas a counseling degree would steer you closer to the advocate, social work, counselor fields). You can also find a research assistantship that would help you get your feet wet in seeing what you want to do. I don't think you can really do that with counseling though.
