I was hired at Taco Bell today. I was called at 8:00 in the morning and told to come in for an interview. Apparently they needed someone badly, because they hired me on the spot. I'm glad that I'll be wearing a uniform.

But I'm worried that I'll make mistakes in orders or fail to use the cash register properly...is it an easy job?

We all were new on the job at one time ...

Sure there will be mistakes, but it's all part of learning the job.

People that don't understand that are the ones with the problem, not you!

Please remember that, okay?

Good Luck & Best Wishes!

Thanks for this!

I don't know about it being an easy job. Anything that would have me on my feet that much would not be easy for me.

I'm sure that they will have the support you need for training. There will be times where you are very busy and other times it might be slow.

As for as mistakes, you're human, there will be mistakes but usually most mistakes can be taken care of by a smile, "I'm sorry" and finding a solution.

I'm sure you will do just fine. Just remember to breath. (I tend to hold my breath when starting something new.)

The cash register might take some getting used to, but after you get used to it it should be like second nature to you. I don't think its necessarily harder than any other job, the only thing that would get to me personally would be the standing, but again there's lots of jobs that require standing.
You'll get used to the way things are run, and it will be easier to you each day.

You'll deal with some stupid customers but yes I found it easy. I loved it.

It won't be too challenging. I mean, you WILL get nasty customers sometimes and you WILL make mistakes, but it's ok. Do your best to pay attention to the orders, recite them back, and you will probably be fine.

Once, at a Taco Bell, I asked for a chicken burrito and a bean burrito. You know what the person who was clearly not paying attention gave me? A taco and a bowl filled with potatoes and cheese. I was irritated because I took it home and saw how badly the order was messed up. I should have checked, but I figured it was an easy order. I talked to the manager and all they did was put my name down for a couple of burritos. The point is, that was an employee screw up and the worst that happened was Taco Bell lost about $3.50. And I still go to the same Taco Bell. Very low stakes. Do your best, keep your chin up, and know that even a stupid mistake is still pretty low stakes.

Congratulations!! New jobs are always a little nervewracking, and there's always things to learn, but you'll be fine.

Have fun and let us know how it's going!

p.s. now I'm craving a burrito
