My boss never gave me the time of day when he joined about 6 months ago. One of my colleagues let on that she had told him he should appreciate and look after me more and so the other day he called me in for a chat. He was nice enough but I felt really embarrassed and redfaced and am now worried he thinks I am really shy and not up for my jobrole. I also believe he thinks I am a lot younger then 29 and not as qualified so I am worried he will judge me for that as well. I am starting to feel anxious about him being in my way all the time amd of the embarrassment when he finds out I am not who he thinks. How can I deal with this more calmly?

It is too bad that your colleague got involved in something that is not her business and has caused you discomfort. She may have been well-intended but still ...

It would probably be best to let the whole thing just die out gradually and not make too much of it. Just keep doing the good job you always did and next thing you know your boss will have something else to focus on.
