I am going to an interview tomorrow, wish me luck! First interview in 3 years! I'm so nervous! Any words of support are very appreciated! I will let you all know how it goes. I'm trying to not get too anxious because if it doesn't work out then it'll just be practice for the next one.
The woman who scheduled me for the interview seemed really nice and casual, so it shouldn't be too daunting. I just hope they don't surprise me with a group interview or have 3+ interviewers talking to me at the same time. ![]()

I have a pretty simple mental trick that has served me well when I am outnumbered in a situation. I approach the situation as if I am there as an instructor. In this case you would be there to teach your interviewer about yourself. I feel a lot less pressure if I take the approach that I am offering something, rather than trying to sell it.

The interview was 50 minutes away from where I live (it was with a staffing agency so this isn't the place where I would actually be working), I diligently wrote down the directions. I made it to the town I was supposed to be in, but got totally lost looking for a street and ended up all turned around. By this point it was already 5 minutes before the interview was supposed to start. I called my interviewer and left a message asking for directions or that we could reschedule because I was lost and wasn't familiar with the area. I had to pull over into a gas station and compose myself because my anxiety was through the roof at this point, because my phone was dying (it was on it's last bar and had only a few more mins left before it shut down) and I didn't quite know how to get back home other than my hand written directions.
I finally made it back home, feeling very disappointed with myself. I made sure to leave early today, I made sure to write the correct directions (I don't have a gps), I made sure to plug in my phone last night before bed and for some reason the battery still drained very fast. I came home almost in tears because I really wanted to ace this interview. Maybe it's just not meant to be.

That really sucks! I hope you can get in touch with the person at the staffing agency on Monday to reschedule.

Yeah when I came home and told my family what happened, they all said "50 minutes is too far for any interview."
From now on I'm just gonna stay local, even if it's with a staffing agency. There's no use to go out of my way and waste all that gas again for something that isn't even a guarantee.
