Hello,
Has anyone dealt with this? I've only been at this job for 4 months. Something has changed in my boss's attitude toward me and I don't know why. Most of the people in the department have been with the company 5+ years. I back people up when they take time off but no one backs up my work when I am out of the office. She sends email after email, "did you do this, did you do that". I am a professional who needs limited hand holding and have no issues meeting my deadlines. The things that she emails me about I dont need to be reminded about, as these tasks are now part of my daily routine. She is very aggressive in her personality and constantly talks over people as they are talking. I've observed her behavior with some other people as well and it closely mirrors her behavior toward me. I suffer from depression and anxiety and ptsd. I am in therapy and this has now set me back as I was making some progress. Any advice or tools I could use to cope. would be so appreciated. Thank you |

Welcome to PC flowerpower74. You can't change your boss but you can keep reminding yourself that you are doing a good job and that her attitude isn't personal - she behaves that way with everyone in the department. And remember - you always have choices. If this persists and continues to affect you negatively, you can always look for another job.

Sounds like a toxic environment! Unfortunately, very many workplaces are.
Learning to realize and accept "it's not you" and to not let it get to you is very hard. You also have to accept that you cannot change someone else nor their behavior towards you or other people. I've worked with a guy for over 25 yrs and he still treats people like dirt. Then he wonders why he has no friends and no one likes him (I could easily go off on a tirade right now, but I'll refrain! ![]() Trying to find that "perfect" fit as far as a career/job goes, I don't know that any one of us has that luxury. Having a job is as lucky as we can get. Use your therapist to help you with coping skills and self talk or meditation or mindfulness skills or whatever works for you. Good Luck. ![]() |

Perhaps upper management could rotate this boss of yours to give EVERYONE in the company the chance to work with her. If they think she is so great then they should want to spread the joy, spread the enthusiasm and attitude to the entire workplace!!
Maybe write to the president of the company and suggest it? |
