I am still feeling a bit off after my episode the other day, but I am also a bit sick as well, so its hard to differentiate between symptoms. Apparently vasovagal syncope needs to be treated if it becomes a problem, with a medication or not standing for long periods of tie, which is exactly what I do at work, so I'm a bit apprehensive about going back to work today.

Hi, can you go back to your doctor and let him know your fears as far as your job goes. Maybe get a sick note until they come up with the right medication?

I called my doctors office and left a message after work Friday night- I wanted to schedule an appointment for tomorrow but probably cant now, I'll have to cal early tomorrow morning and see about things. If I'm not diabetic or anemic (like my mom) I wonder if I have a head injury- the urine test and EKG is not going to catch that. I need lke blood tests and a CAT scan too maybe.

I have accrued hours of sick time, but I already put in for three days of sick leave this week, I don't think I can keep doing that . .

Hi AngstyLady...

I'm so sorry that you're still feeling off, dealing with being sick, and having to deal with work on top of everything else.

Did you go back? Are you feeling any better? Have you been able to get in touch with your doctor?

If you're still having problems, you might want to see if your insurance has a "nurse line". Mine has something like that, where you can call for advice on medical issues. I've never used it, but I assume they're real nurses who can either help you feel a little less nervous about going back to work, or can give you some solid reasoning for not going back.

If you can't go back, you might want to check into things like medical leave of absence, short-term disability, and fmla. Not sure if any of those apply at your workplace, but that might help?

Or, if you still have sick (or vacation) time left, talk to your boss... it's way better for you to be out for a bit longer, but healing, then for you to be at work and have an episode/seizure.

Good luck, it sounds like a scary, stressful thing to have to deal with. I hope you're able to get some medical help soon, and that you start feeling better soon!
Thanks for this!

Yes, I have gone back to work- Its just a bit too much sometimes- I'm drinking fluids like constantly- not moving too fast- otherwise I get a little foggy thinking lightheaded- I've been eating more to compensate- especially carbs- I'm thinking I might be pre-diabetic. . .(or anemic like my mom, though I've been tested for that before and apparently I'm not but maybe it can develop later?) . trying to take it slow- I showed the doctor papers to my managers- they know whats going on so they've been understanding for the most part. A coworker friend said I shouldn't push myself if I'm not feeling to good but what am I going to do? I need to earn a living- I've been trying to push myself more on the job search end- talking to the accountant upstairs in the office about if she needs help on the administrative side of things- looking for local jobs as well as state jobs in my area . .. things will hopefully work out- trying to go in soon for some blood work.

So the day before yesterday I drank some caffeinated beverage and felt more off than ever and so then I stopped and drank water and soon felt better.
I did research and read how caffeine can aggravate medical issues so yesterday I had no caffeine and felt fabulous. :-)
