I would say "hate" but in my case I'm not quite there yet. I'm a medical assistant for a very popular cardiologist in my area. Well I just recently started working there but he didn't hire me to be his medical assistant. He hired me to be his "walker". I follow him around to each room, type in his passwords for him, hand him his pens, prescription pads, stethoscope, whatever he forgets. And I get to make his coffee too. The first few days were nothing. I'm like "this is nothing!" Then the other girls started telling me how his last girls quit from anxiety! Well, I happen to have anxiety. I don't yet see how he can cause anxiety but frustration, yes. He makes his patients wait a good 2 hrs and is always late. He talks about himself sooooo much and thinks he knows everything. I can already tell what he's going to say before he says it. And because he is so slow, I'm stuck at work far past 9hrs. I have to be there the whole time he is because he MUST have someone so these simple to things for him!
Anyone else dislike their boss? |

I had times when I thought I hated my boss, and then I realized she was a pain in the rear end, but I respected her dedication to the company. She treated us poorly and I certainly didn't respect that!

I don't hate them (the two co-owners of the company I work at), but I no longer have any respect left for either of them. It has eroded to the point that I have to do something about my job. I have Monday off (using up vacation days) and Tuesday is the day. Not sure that I will still have a job after this meeting, but I don't care anymore. Their lack of management is causing severe problems all the way down the chain and we are losing customers. I am ready to snap (I may have already and don't know it?). I'm done.

LOL - I'm probably somebody's hated boss. *sigh*
This is good, because it reminds me of areas to improve. |

I get VERY bored! Don't get me wrong, hearing patients stories and being able to meat them is my highlight. But this dr often drowns out their talking with stories of himself! |

I had a very abusive boss. The only way I could get back at her is what I did, quit. I learned there is no time to be abused anywhere, especially at work. We wouldn't let our freinds and family abuse us, but we often let people at work do.
People like those are unhappy on the inside. They'll never change. But remember it's just a job, not life. Don't get emotionally abused by some work person that may affect you outside of work. Start to find a new job. |

I've got a few bosses at different sites where I work. i hate the fact that they make promises and it seems like, oh no prob, that'll be taken care of tomorrow. 4 months later I'm still waiting for that raise to kick in.

I have 2 jobs, one full time and one part time. The boss at my part time job shows most of the the signs of being a psychopath. Also, he wears sunglasses indoors. The full time job is completely online as an automation engineer so most of my interaction with boss is via voice chat and when he gets grumpy it kind of takes the sting out of it because you can't see the anger in someones face and body language.

The bad ones make you really appreciate the good ones. And, I hate to say this lest I sound trite, but both bad and good bosses make us experience personal growth. I really do keep that in mind for myself. Please be careful not let the other girls at work prejudice you. Just because the person that previously held your position had anxiety and happened to quit does not mean all people with anxiety would quit this particular job. Just because that person quit *supposedly* due to the doctor's work habits does not mean you will ever feel the same need. As far as the doctor goes, my first thought is "Thank goodness he is smart enough to acknowledge his shortcomings AND smart enough to hire someone to help him out with it!" Those that work with you should be so thankful that you are there as I am sure he would otherwise make their work lives more difficult. Try not to get caught up in what others say about him (generally a good rule of thumb in the work environment regardless.) Maybe try to have some compassion for this person who obviously has quirks, and maintain some objectivity, too. Keep in mind that the position is specifically for the purpose of helping him - he obviously needs the assistance and you are providing a meaningful service to his practice. I think that's great. You may find that as you build your work relationship with him, you come to enjoy it and will be able to anticipate his needs, free him up so his energies are on his medical duties instead of organizational issues, and you will be able to indirectly "direct" him so everything becomes much more efficient -- he, you, the office staff, and his patients all benefit. And, it is acceptable in the appropriate context to make coffee for management, peers, and customers. The tasks you perform may seem menial or trivial but they are important - important to him and his business. I hope it ends up being a very good experience for you! |

I like mine though I wish he gave me more feedback and showed his appreciation of my (very good) work more. But that's just not his way. He's still a good boss, though, and one of my top 2 favorite bosses.

Yup. I have had a lot of stress, anxiety, and a few mental breakdowns because of my boss. It's not fun being pushed around and treated like crap. This was actually a good post to read on a crappy day after work. I know so many people are in the same boat as meeeee! Lol
