I ended getting a new job at a Kobe Japanese Steakhouse here in my local area.
which I actually really liked and enjoyed since I have always been a fan of Japanese culture and foods. But I went in last night to basically get told that I had been let go of by the Korean owner of the resturant. Aparently this man noticed I had made a few mistakes or what he saw as mistakes. even though on incident was me stating to at least three other servers that I could not remember how to do a to go order on the computer cause the girls that had showed me how had rushed through the process and frankly, they had note on the Hostess desk area where I was working but they were not fully aquirte as to how to get the to go order started. so that evening I asked these three girls to help me and all of them said they could but they need to wait a moment and cause only two servers showed up that weekend. And it was graduation weekend from the university of missouri which a lot of the local busisness work around. We were super busy, and I was asked if I could help with cleaning tables and also helping with getting people drink refill to help the servers out I not only helped the other people and was a team player but I at one point took the sushi and habatchi menus home with me so I could go over the menus and learn them as best I could. because they told me knowing the information from the menus was helpful, but I also have difficulty with memorizing things very quickly, so I brought in a note book that I took notes in while I was at work when people were not coming in. to take notes about the computer, the menu and other such things. what is even more so irritating is that the owner saw me doing this and questioned whaat I was doing, even did so kind of with an attidude. And yet the other servers, and hostess girls that were there, saw that I was trying to work hard and do the job as best I could. I mean there were girls at the place, that would just flat out not show up when they had shifts they had to work. I showed up every single time I had a shift and un like the other younger girls there worked hard to learn the job and do it well. and it was not enough to these people. lol now I could be using a lot more colourful language then I am right now. lol gosh knows when I showed up last night, and got told this and spoke to my boyfriend and my mother about the situation I did. But what’s done is done, I can't help that these people were assholes and did not see the value in someone who wanted to be a hard worker. thank goodness I am working with my local branch of voc rehab so that I can look into some alternatives for work. just upsetting and depressing for me to deal with.

As an older worker, I too have to scribble things down. I don't think 3 weeks is enough time to learn all the things you need to. Sorry this happened to you.

I too have to make notes when learning new stuff.
Sorry you lost your job after trying your best. It sucks that management couldn't recognize a gem when they had you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, agreed. Hopefully you can find a job where your initiative and hard work are appreciated. It's funny that so many places complain that they can't find 'good staff' but when they do they treat them poorly.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I was let go of a previous contracted job in the middle of this past November for almost making a costly mistake. It was my first day out of training and had to figure it out myself. It was an insurance company super excited of being in another field got let go while I was on my way to lunch.
I am back at my part time job for now until something else better comes a long. That insurance company had high expectations of being super good out of training because you were given training. So what? I was told in the interview that I wasn't expected to know everything in a short amount of time but whatever. I gotta construct a good sentence in the next interviews as to how am I improving my learning ability etc. |
