I got a job interview with the state for a help desk position next wed! I am happy, but I am not gonna put an expectation just do an interview and that's that. I still want out of my part time job asap! I don't want to waste time going through 50 rounds of interviewing; I need to start reviewing soon.
First interview of the year, surprised they got back to me asap. |

Don't push too hard. Just rest and do the best that you can during that time. No worries. Just enjoy!

I had the interview today a panel interview of two people. Odd *** questions felt more like supervisory than anything it was for a help desk analyst not an IT manager! Got asked a question pertaining to updating my skills told them what I read on my own time isn't helping me further my career as a current temp employee hence is why I am wanting full time so I can further my career.
This was a state job it's gonna take 6-8 weeks or shorter to hear back on an offer. They have 3 help desk people they need a 4th one because of the hiring freeze etc. In the meantime, I am gonna keep looking for other jobs. I felt like I stumbled through half the questions (10 questions)... |

Good for you for going. Even if it felt like you were stumbling, it's hard to actually know how we sound when we're stressed and in an interview. Sometimes, you think you sound like you don't know what you're talking about - but they love you. Other times, you think you nailed it - but don't get the job.
There's so much weirdness that goes into getting a job that honestly, if you don't get it, you shouldn't really blame yourself. For awhile I was helping my boss interview candidates at our work place. We had people that we loved, but couldn't hire b/c their skills weren't the right niche for what we do. We had people that were very qualified, but showed some personality characteristics that would likely not have fit well with our team. We had people who looked great on paper, but were terrible in person. It runs the gamut, but not getting the job doesn't always mean that there's anything *wrong* with the person. Good luck to you, and I think it's smart to keep interviewing while you wait to hear back! |

I agree. I have nailed it with past interviews recently but never got the job. I went through over 35 rounds of interviewing for a full time job and they let me go. I don't want to go through another additional of 35+ rounds of interviewing it'll be almost 2 yrs of interviewing and still not getting anywhere.
The jobs I look at aren't that interesting same ones from months ago, a year, ago two years ago, the same repeated jobs weekly! I am waiting for next week for when the community college district opening up the new jobs to apply too. |
