I currently work full time at a doctors office. They made it clear when they hired me in that they would not work my work schedule around my school schedule. I am also a full time college student. Well now they have announce that they are now going to have the office open for daytime hours, evening hours, and Saturday hours. Therefore, making it impossible for me to even schedule classes. My boss gives me an attitude when I ask to switch shifts with someone. I just don't know what to do from here. I'm so close to getting my degree that I graduate in 4 semesters! If I miss so much as one class in my schedule from now to graduation I can't graduate on time. I've been looking into other options for work but I can't find anywhere that will work with my hours and pay me even close to what I make now. I'm just stressed beyond belief at this point.

Wow... I'm so sorry that they're not willing to work with you on your hours. That sounds like such a difficult position for you to be in, especially with them expanding their hours so that you can't even schedule classes now.

You've probably thought about this, but... I'll throw it out there. Have you looked into financial aid at all (scholarships, or student loans)? Especially with just 4 semesters left... it would give you some support so that you could get away from this particular job, continue your classes, look for another job if you felt you needed to, and graduate and hopefully move on to bigger and better things.

It's just an idea. Otherwise, as you said, you can keep looking for other work... but it might be hard to find something flexible that pays well.

Good luck, and hang in there. Getting through school, especially while supporting yourself, is tough on everybody.

I worked part time when I was getting my MSc degree and it was hard, really hard, even though my job was my studies related.

Can you afford not working for 4 months? Your degree is much more important.

Wow. I've never worked somewhere that wasn't willing to respect my school schedule. Does your boss have a stick up their *** about you or something?! Can you maybe suggest they hire in someone to work when you're unable? I don't know what your living situation is or if your still at home but if having an income is a must then I would find a new job. Maybe another drs office that is willing to pay you the same? At least you have experience. If you live alone, maybe get a roommate to help with finances while you finish school? Don't let this job keep you from finishing your classes. It's so important and I'm sorry your boss doesn't think the same!

Trileptal 600mg BID
Buspar 45mg
Seroquel 150-300mg for sleep
Ativan 1mg PRN
Vyvanse 70mg
Risperdal 4-6mg PRN

I don't get msgs unless the other person using tapatalk app!

I had this issue in the past I would suggest finding a new job if you can who will allow you to work and still get an education. It's not your fault that office doesn't have educated people yet he is taking it out on you. he is in fear that you will find better and why not? Everybody wants better some time in their lives.

They will not hiring someone to cover my shift. They will only hire if someone else leaves or what not. I do not live alone I live with my boyfriend of seven years and we rely on both of our incomes to pay our bills. I've been looking elsewhere for other jobs the problem is there is nowhere with flexible hours that will pay me what I make now. I think I may have to take a pay cut I'm just not sure where I want to go next. You know?

Thank you! I do current receive both fiancial aid and scholarships to pay for my schooling and I receive just enough to pay for my college tuition. The issue is I live on my own and not with my parents. So, I need an income as well to pay for my food, housing, gas, etc. Its tough. I know that I am going to have to change jobs now I just am not sure where to go from here honestly.

I have never had this issue before and I think that is why it is so stressful for me. I am finally in a place where I am making decent money and am almost done with my schooling and then this happens. You are right I will have to find another job. I am just unsure where to go from here honestly.

I wish I could afford not to work for the next 4 semesters which would total out to be a year. I really can't though. I need the money for my bills. That's what makes it so stressful.

At this point, your inflexible and decent paying job is a distraction and is leaving you stuck. Your employer probably views you as a short time employee and sees no reason to invest in your education. Find a "good enough" paying flexible job that will allow you to prioritize completing your 4 semesters. That's 2 years, right? So, you still have a long way to go before you graduate, and are in a position to look for work in your new field. Don't worry that your next transitional job pays less than your current one because that's the reality of earning income. There's ups and downs. Good luck!
