Hi
![]() I have just been offered a job through the NHS. A medical clearance is mandatory before the job is officially mine, and Im just worried about it. I have Bipolar type two and im on anti psychotics, so I can't lie on the forms because with that on my record it is bound to be brought up. Does anyone know if this will affect my position in anyway, or am I just worrying over nothing? The post isn't for contacts with patients (although I have worked with patients before, it wasn't through the NHS it was though University employment) and if any Occupational Health screening will cause a delay in my start date if I have to go for an interview etc? They want me to start immediately and I dont want to piss them off ![]()

You could maybe say that you have 'Treated'…or 'managed' Bipolar 2. You may also need to list your medications. Unless the symptoms of your illness will impede your ability to fullfill your duties, there is no reason why they should deny your application. It may be a good idea to add a footnote that you can provide more information/details on request. You may want to ask your treating doctor for a letter stating your capacity to work aswell.
Best of luck x_baby
