I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow and face my coworkers after an awful experience I had on Friday.

I don't know the details of the awful experience, but find that work sites are very much like small towns. Some people may talk about it for a bit, but those same people will forget all about your experience once something new pops up to talk or gossip about.

What did you decide to do about going to work today? If you did go, how was your day there?

I went to work and just did my best to avoid having contact with the other individual. Unfortunately, he made yet another snide comment today that about put me over the edge. I simply walked away and went back to my desk.

Sounds like you handled his remark pretty well by just walking away..he didn't get the reaction he was looking for. I don't know the details of all this of course, and am not asking that you give them if you'd rather not. If he is someone who continually makes snide remarks, and that is causing a regular work issue, then talk to someone over his head. Chances are you wouldn't be the first person to call him on this. If he was making a snide comment in response to your having a bad day last week, but is normally okay to work with, then you will need to decide which way you want to go with that. Glad you decided to face it head on today and go in to work. That was the hardest part, and you made it through the day.

Well, I'd say 'don't care about that coworker' but I guess it could be hard especially when you work in the same room. Avoiding isn't an answer as well. Probably I'll try clearing the air with that guy.

I don't know the exact details of your issue, or if you've already handled everything, but I've had my own experiences with difficulties in interpersonal relationships in the workplace. One thing you can do is "address the issue". Sometimes taking the other person aside and discussing the issue can be the best solution, as hard as that is. As far as tension between co-workers though, time seems to be the best medicine. Anytime there is an overpowering tension at work because of something (someone went to HR, someone got fired, someone's in danger of getting fired, someone's upset with someone else), I've noticed that most of the major tension that makes your job suck is gone after about a month. Hope this helps.
