I am unemployed right now and have been for about three weeks. I'm really stressed out about money and trying to find a new job. I've been applying, and I've done a few interviews, but I haven't gotten a new job yet. Any support or ideas of where to apply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm in the same position but for some reason, I'm not worried. I should be and I've no idea why I'm so calm......
Good luck!

Linkedin is a good way to connect with others and follow companies you are interested in. I would search the major job boards and don't miss some of the less known job sites like OneDayOneJob and SimplyHired.

Try also Indeed.com and Glassdoor.com and check out your local City and County website for jobs too.

Work has been incredibly spotty for me. I've had a couple of few-day temp jobs, the last of which was couple weeks ago. My mom and I talk about school almost constantly, she thinks it's more worth it for me to go back, I want to work in the meantime, but haven't even bothered to apply. It just occurred to me a couple of hours ago that I should start trying.

Working is painful. I mean, I know it's not supposed to be fun, but in the past it's been emotionally painful, it was so mind-numbing. I know it's whiny and entitled to say that, or even think it, but it's true. And now that I'm another useless boomerang kid living off their parents, it's even more depressing. I can hardly bring myself to care.

My longest job lasted for a year, but I was employed due to this government (actually European Union) program that provides free workers for about 6 months (I been doing usual job and had a less money from it) and then the employer takes you on his own for about three months and then you get fired and replaced with another free worker. And, of course, the statistics show how remarkable this unemployment fighting program is. I finished this job in February, now this boss is looking for a standard worker, but somehow they didn't come with the proposition towards me, perhaps I was too critical at my job and didn't seem to be happy about it.

Since then, I had a few job interviews, was working in a market for a few days, but nothing stable has come along. It's a very small town actually.

Yesterday I been sent to another workplace and it seemed perfect to me: a small, quiet shop literally next to my house. Today the boss told me that in fact she's been keeping the position for her niece, so she cannot employ me. Lovely.

I've found a couple of good jobs through temp services. Perhaps, search for those in your area? That's usually the fastest way I've been able to find work. But keep in mind, you won't have much in the way of benefits until they hire you on. Good luck in your search!

Go to local networking groups-- general ones and ones specifically tailored to your background. There are lots of people you'll meet who are in the same situation and can provide a lot of insight and understanding.
