Hello,

I'm new and I recently joined after basically hitting the bottom (failures in nearly every area of life). I lost my job a few months ago, after failing at several relationships. I had recently purchased a used car after wrecking my old one last year. I'm still living at home and I've nearly lost any hope of holding down a job and becoming independent.

I've recently graduated from the University of Phoenix, and I'm also a graduate of Tulsa Community College. I've tried the vocational-rehab stuff. I've tried applying for social security benefits. I've tried applying for unemployment benefits. Nothing is working. I've had like two really crappy interviews that haven't led to anything. I apply for at least two jobs a week.

Thanks,

Kb

Would you be eligible for a job coach?

Hello Kb: I'm sorry you are having so much difficulty. I'm not familiar with the U. of Phoenix. I've seen their ads on TV. But that's it. Do they, or does Tulsa CC, have placement services that would be of any help? Have you ever taken a job seeking skills class? If you're applying for 2 jobs a week & getting nothing but 2 crappy interviews, perhaps there are things you're doing that are sabotaging your job search without your realizing it.

I don't know what your work history looks like, or how long you've been out of school. But if you have little or no positive work history, that can certainly be a problem. Not knowing what your field is, or what kinds of jobs you've been applying for, I wonder if it's possible you're simply aiming too high at this point. I don't know what the job market is like either where you are. That, of course, can have a huge impact on your ability to get a job. I'm sorry these suggestions are all just stabs in the dark, so to speak. There's simply too much I don't know about your situation to offer much of anything else.

It would be easy, in your situation, to just give up in despair. Kudos to your for continuing to try! From my perspective, I think it's important to take a critical look at all of the various aspects of your job search situation & see if there are some ways you can improve on what you're doing. A skilled vocational counselor could potentially be helpful in doing that, if you could find one; perhaps either at one of the schools you attended or at your state's employment service office.

Hey @single_cat91,

I can definitely relate with what you say...

I've had those bad tides where everything seems to conspire against us and our lives...
In these times I think to myself... "Just hang on"... My priority is to hang on and wait to thing turn around into positive... Cause they will.. They always do.

Hope you stay strong and soon find the opportunities your seeking
