So after good advice from Doc John in his Tuesday and hearing from members here, I decided to swing my schedule so I'm not putting in 60+ hours every week. My career is on the Vice PResident, high paying, high stakes route, so I understand the importance of having to work over time frequently, but I still have to find balance.
So I skipped an event last night, just because I really needed the break, before the event we have tonight too. Well darn it all to heck, I woke up to a debilitating bout of vertigo. Even when it passes I'm going to have to get an Uber ride to work. I just can't trust that I can drive. I have to make it in this afternoon, but I let my co-workers know that I would be out this morning. I guess the one plus side of working 60+ hours a week is that when you need a morning off, as long as your morning schedule is open, no one really blinks. But I feel like such a loser having to take time off. I knew this was going to happen...the signs of vertigo have been coming on all week. Oh well. I wonder when I will feel normal again and not struggle like this every day. I really don't know how long I can truly function like this. Seesaw

I hope you get the rest you appear to need soon.
If it makes you feel any better I had to take last Friday off work as I was a wreck. It did me a suprising amount of good. (The time, not the wreck!) |

I hope you're feeling better by now. Dealing with vertigo sounds awful, is it an ongoing thing? *hugs*
I don't feel qualified to really comment on the hours, since I assume the requirements for the type of job that you're working towards are different than what I'm used to (I'm in a professional field, but I don't manage people and am not really on track for that). I do think that it's smart to try to find some kind of balance - I'd go crazy if the expectation was that I worked 60 hours, all the time, forever. I don't think I could do that... you need time to have a life outside of work! Quote:
Getting sick, getting vertigo - isn't your fault. I assume that, if it's an ongoing thing, you're seeking treatment? Nobody wants to be sick... if you could snap your fingers and make the vertigo disappear, I'm sure you would (and that you'd be right back at work). How do you feel when your co-workers are out sick? Does it bother you to the same degree? How do others react? ![]() |

Hey guys, the vertigo has lasted a couple of days now, but I did make it in to work on Friday.
I guess, when other people are out, it doesn't bother me. In fact, it kind of bothers me when people who are sick are at work instead of staying home. Which is funny since I would come in to work sick too. I'm definitely being harder on myself than others are being. But it's hard not to judge myself for it. Thanks for the support. Seesaw
