I've been having "fun" at the moment trying to claim Jobseeker's Allowance (for the Non-Brits, that's a benefit you can claim while looking for a job, as long as you meet certain conditions including showing a sufficient amount of evidence that you are looking for a job).
Last week I decided to finally sign up for JSA again. You now have to apply online but there are now two different similar benefits- JSA and Universal Credit. Went to Jobcentre to ask someone in person for help applying for the right one, they told me to apply online. Site was down for two days, finally got it working. JSA link fowarded me to Universal Credit, which said I wasn't eligible for UC but that I might be able to claim JSA. Clicked on the JSA link and it told me to phone the jobcentre. Phoned the number, which kept telling me to apply online. I eventually got through to someone, started the claim over the phone, went to the Jobcentre for the appointment, got it all sorted. I went to the appointment today to find my claim got rejected and they didn't bother telling me. Lady was apologetic, said someone had got the wrong end of the stick, said to use the rapid reclaim on the website. Website isn't working again. ![]() ![]() |

That is so frustrating. I live in the U.S. but our benefits have all that red tape to go through as well. It can be so frustrating and disheartening.
Good luck with getting your benefits! seesaw
