I may be depressed but I am also a kind, nice, well-adjusted and mature individual who normally would never want anything bad to happen to others. but I just started a temp job yesterday and I have a co-worker from hell. it was my first day yesterday so I asked some questions about the work. I noticed one of the other temps seemed to be mocking me for asking questions. I thought I was just being too sensitive. i am quite friendly so i even tried to make small talk with her but she was just so rude back i gave that up. i was walking on eggshells. then today, there was a misunderstanding about taking breaks and she proceeded to chew me out for ten minutes. she is not even my supervisor. she only started working there a month before me. the sup asked her to train me but she has absolutely no patience and is super mean. i am totally mad at myself for tearing up when she scolded me for something so minor. i didn't want to involve the sup so i just called my temp agency and gave notice. i still have to work five more (loooooooong) days per the temp agreement but if they can find a replacement sooner i am outta there! the temp agency man wanted to know why i was giving notice and i just told him things had become unbearable for me. i wanted to name names but decided not to but i really hope that gal gets what she deserves. ack!

That s*cks...I love temp agencies thou because they will find another placement for you and I think it took much courage to stand up for yourself (leave this role) when of course everyone needs to be making money....and now you are stuck looking for another role.

I WOULD talk to the supervisor within this 5 days that you have left. I would write down everything I wanted to say about this girl...she was unprofessional, snappy and how although I respect that they need to have someone to train new people that I do not think the selection of this particular trainer was a good choice and write down some of my experiences with this person that were negative or unprofessional!

You have nothing to lose by ratting her out!

oh yes, my temp agency is wonderful. the staff is so nice.
they contacted me yesterday and told me the company terminated me as of yesterday so i don't even have to work the 5 days. they didn't want to waste time training me if i was going to leave. i am so relieved!
i don't want to rat on that gal as we are both with the same temp agency. i don't want to jeopardize her rep at the temp agency as she needs to find work too. one of the other temps did witness some of her attitude towards me so at least i have a witness. although she did not see all of it. i have calmed down today. life is so short i don't want to dwell on something so unpleasant. it only hurts me. although this is easier said than done.

I'm sorry that happened. I am not familiar with the politics of the temp world so I can't really advise, but I would agree that if it happens again, I would speak to a higher up or I would confront the person directly and say "I am new here. I apologize if I have made a mistake. But please do not speak to me like that. I am an adult."

It's hard because of our mental illnesses, but we have to set boundaries and stand up for ourselves.

Good luck,

personality issues are the same whether it is temp or permanent work. I could tell the gal had some issues as she was very tense and seemed unhappy and stressed. I did try to explain myself but she would not listen and just kept criticizing me. I knew the situation would not change so the best solution was an exit. life is too short. thanks for the feedback!

Do you know what her problem was? She was threatened by your work ethic, good attitude and personality that employers look for to hire into the company. With the job market people will do anything for money you were bullied. I would do as you are and move on it's not worth the stress going back to complain and re-Liv the moment. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for this!

"I was told that the company terminated me"....

That would have been devestating to me...as I am very sensitive and would take it totally personally.

Its so refreshing to read this post from you that you are so strong and ready to move on!

oh I am very sensitive to being terminated but that can happen during temping. I have been terminated because the company found a volunteer to do the work, another time because I could not do the heavy-lifting the position required (I was not told beforehand else I would have declined the assignment), and for this current one, they terminated me because I gave 5 days' notice (per my temp agency's standard agreement for quitting an assignment) and the company did not want to waste time training someone who was just going to work a few more days. I always try to be a good worker but this recent spate of disappointing temp jobs has me on eggshells. still, I need to keep trying. gotta make a living!
