This coworker is in the same team and younger than me but his role and position is different than mine and he is working in an area that is considered to be a service to my work.

As the coworker is young, our boss wanted him to learn new skills and upgrade his role because the boss is not utilizing him much as the coworker is not too busy and has a free time.

Then the boss decided that the coworker shall interfere and share some of work (to be partially responsible for some of my work) as I am too busy and overloaded and the boss doesn't like anything to be delayed because of the work load.

The idea was that the coworker shall learn from me and consult me when needed and I have the final decision about this area.

Now, conflicts started to happen between me and the coworker because he started bypassing myself and talking to the boss directly about my work to gain some credit, not only but also started to talk to me in a way that I see carry a scent of instructions.

I am not a weak personality but I had a fight with him when I talked to him in an inappropriate way and then he complained me to the boss and I finally apologized.

The situation is complicated and I don't want how to handle it and I don't want to lose my temper again. I started to feel insecure for the first time in my career as he is grabbing work from me and that may lead to partially marginalized at work.

Have you shared your feelings about the situation with your boss? If your coworker isn't following the rules that were set out at the beginning -- giving you the final decision in things -- then that needs to be addressed. Was this expectation spelled out clearly to him by your boss when he came in to help you with your project?
