So I'm unemployed for nearly four months now, and been looking for a job. Went to two interviews but no positive news.

I have severe confidence and self-esteem issue and feel it affect me on my ongoing job seeking, in fact, in everything else. Glancing at the job descriptions listed, work locations, etc, I always feel afraid, and doesn't have much confidence to doing the tasks. Which sometimes resulting in narrowing the job scope, which resulting in the lack of it.

To make things worse, I have a stuttering problems so when I'm nervous and such, my speech will become worse. Also, my mind tend to feel 'blank' from time to time - which happened in my last interview session when they asked me about my poor grades. Combined with my poor confidence when answering the interview questions, needless to say it didn't end well.

Any advice on this? Feel stressed and disappointed with myself each passing day. Been ignoring this since a long time since I didn't know the exact problems, but starting to feel that I have to tackle it so I can improve myself. But I don't know how.

Hey sorry you are struggling.
Idk if this would help any, but my cousin got really nervous at interviews and was having no luck finding a job even though very qualified. So he sister who is a psychologist had her do a bunch of "mock interviews" to get more comfortable with it and come up with good answers and qs she could use at a real interview.
I Would also come up with a prepared answer for any qs about poor grades or spotty work History so you don't get caught off guard if they ask.
Crossing my fingers for you.
Thanks for this!

I have anxiety attacks during moments of judgment such as interviews, tests, or assessments. I saw a psychiatrist and was prescribed a medication for those moments which helped me during interviews. Perhaps this avenue might help.

Thanks for the reply.

It's similar with my current situation, sessions with my speech therapist is now all 'mock interviews' since she knew I'm looking for jobs now.

It really helped me in that matter, although I'm still worried to face the unpredictable questions and from that session, I realized that I'm lacking insight, which make my confidence become further dented.

Take a benzo before the interview like Valium. Practice common question, the mock interviews idea is brilliant but I know how hard it can be when you are put on the spot and your mind just runs and hides! Try imagine the interviewer on the toilet naked lol

I struggled for months to find a job, and had lots of these same difficulties. Practicing questions and answers did help me. So did putting a "comfort rock" in my pocket. (Silly maybe, but it made me feel better!)
I would also advise you pick jobs that are really right for you. Don't apply for things you are over qualified for due to low self esteem. You are most likely to be hired for the job that is the best fit.

I did mock interviews which helps plus I went to interviews for positions I wasn't interested in and helped improved my skills. I've interviewed at 45 different places before I got my current how terrible shouldn't have been this difficult
