I haven't worked since 2010, when I moved overseas. For the first chunk of time, I wasn't allowed to work under the terms of our visas. I am now, but the thought of getting back in the workplace is terrifying and overwhelming. I have no idea what I could do. The career I had in the UK doesn't exist here. I live close to decent-sized city, but it's predominantly military/defence type jobs which I'm ineligible for as a non-citizen. I couldn't deal with the public as I already hear the 'I love your accent' so many times a day already and any more would tip me over the edge. We can't move because of my husband's job.
Where do I begin? It all seems so daunting. I have a master's degree but so little confidence. It's easier to drift through the days but that can't go on forever. I need a purpose and to feel valued. Thanks for listening. |

Where does your work experience & education and/or your inquisitiveness & recreation(s) intersect with the culture and business-society of your current location? I would start looking there.
