I'm in the process of trying to find a new position for next school year and it is rather stressful. I have an interview at a job fair on Saturday.

I’m kind of worried about this one coworker. She’s been making comments to me and about me. She’s been asking me stuff that’s none of her business like why I don’t have a full/second job and she’s just been rude in general. I work with her next on Saturday. I know 2 of my coworkers have told her to stop. I just am not sure how this weekend will go.

That coworker was pretty much ok with me today. But towards the end of our shift she made some comment about me not being capable of doing something. She also said 2 other people couldn’t do it either, and that she was the only one who could do it. I just found it rude. She could have just gone over to help without putting everyone else down. So I asked her why she thought I couldn’t do the task and she sort of got offended and said it’s because I never speak up. I don’t know what that means. Maybe I shouldnt have brought it up in the first place. I was just tired after being out late last night and getting up early. I’m trying to stick up for myself more though.

My coworker just doesn’t understand she’s being rude I don’t think. Today she said to one of my other coworkers “I probably would have ignored you in high school because you would have looked crazy to me.” That’s much ruder then anything she’s said to me. My coworker was actually silent for a second. I think it bothered her.

Today was my first day teaching private lessons. I'll be doing it once a week for now. It's not even a "real job", but I haven't been able to work in over a year... So at least I'm starting somewhere I guess.
I've been feeling very anxious in the past few days. l have an irrational fear to I don't what that makes me sabotage things and isolate myself. I don't want to keep avoiding life. I hope things go well this time.

Things are going really slow at work. Which is fine with me. My anxiety was really high with all the holiday hours, then with the whole Medicare and social security situation. Now things are finally calming down so I’m fine with less hours. I have my first weekend off since the summer so I’m going on a mini trip. Work called yesterday and asked if I could come in today and I said no. The weather is pretty bad. I felt bad this morning so I called them and asked if they needed me tomorrow. They said no. So, whatever.

I’ve been struggling at work. It’s not noticeable though. I’m still doing everything right. I’m still performing well. I’ve just been very irritable and angry. I haven’t been showing it but 4 hour shifts have been painful to get through.

I'm going to start a job soon. It's my first one apart from apprenticeships. I'll help a boy with cognitive issues at school. Hope to be good

Work gave me too many hours and activated ticket to work. Now I have a problem I have to fix so I don't lose my SSD. Can't wait until tomorrow, I'm dying to see my case manager and luckily have her scheduled.

I had to tell work to cut my hours too because they gave me too many for the week after next. I just got my social security straightened out so I’m kind of nervous about this. I told work 20 hours a week and that’s it. At least until the holidays. Which is fine with me because my anxiety has been through the roof as it is with work.

I thought this coworker who has said stuff before called me dumb today. My hearing has been off lately. I have heard some really weird things on TV that was
definitely not being said. They were not advertising a 2014 Subaru. They were advertising a 2019. One. I’m just mishearing stuff like that. So I doubt she actually did call me dumb.

I’ve been told I’m the nicest coworker at my job. That’s fine and all that. But then people try to take advantage of that and get mad when I say no. It’s not my fault my coworker didn’t do things the correct way. This coworker was being really rude in a passive aggressive way. Plus this is one of the ones that has always been really nice in the past. I stood my ground and didn’t give into her demands. She eventually told me “I feel bad” but I’m not sure if she was referring to her actions or someone else’s actions towards me. Either way I was just annoyed when I left. I’m glad I stood my ground though. I’m glad I can say no.

I can't get a job not because of a lack of skill or ability to deal with office issues; I can't get a job because of prejudicial rejection. Once I'm actually hired, people think I'm a good worker, but it's practically impossible to get that far. I can't even get interviews, anymore. As soon as they see my name they shut me down.

I'm sorry to hear that, theurother. in some instances, that would be illegal (where I live) but employers might do it anyways. Though not all employers are like that, and I bet you'll find an accepting employer soon.

I had to call into work today. My boss wasn’t happy, but I was actually sick. And when I woke up after I had called in I felt even sicker then before. So I knew I had done the right thing. I fixed the problem by getting medication. If they need an explanation I’ll give them the exact reason. I’m just kind of nervous about facing them.

They don't specify why they reject me - they don't have to, and that's how they get away with it.

The only human contact I get nowadays is the occasional recruiter calling me up about an opportunity, then never hearing from them again.

It seems I have grossly underestimated the bigotry I have been facing; bigotry against me is now being practiced out in the open with no one fearing reprisals. People are publicly announcing I will not be hired because of my mental state, and encouraging others to do the same. I am going to be homeless in a month thanks to this.

i'm sorry to hear that you might end up homeless, theurother. I might be in homeless shelter by next month too.

If you don't have a criminal record, then I can't see any ground for people to target you like that. Even if you do have a criminal record, there are still employers willing to work with that. they are probably very hard to find though.

in some instances, federal contractors are obligated to hire people who have a mental disability.

then there's also going the self-employment route but that's the largest investment of time, money, and resources.

But if you have a Ticket To Work, you can apply it to a local EN or VR agency who will help you find work. There's also a PABSS agency that can help you combat mental disability discrimination issues.

TheUrOther, I'm sorry Hope you'll find something soon. If you had other jobs and they found you good, maybe you could ask there again, or ask them to write a sort of presentation letter for you?

Mountaindewed, don't worry, if you were sick it was good to stay home

I've been "targeted like that" since I was six years old. I have always been discriminated against, harassed, and beaten up. Humanity has never benn shy about it's contempt for my existence.

Self-employment still means needing to get people to buy what I'm selling - there's no way in Hades they'll do that. People would refuse my goods or services even if that meant dying - their dedication to my ostracism is fanatical.

I have no idea what this "Ticket To Work" is.
