I had to tell work to cut my hours too because they gave me too many for the week after next. I just got my social security straightened out so I’m kind of nervous about this. I told work 20 hours a week and that’s it. At least until the holidays. Which is fine with me because my anxiety has been through the roof as it is with work.

I thought this coworker who has said stuff before called me dumb today. My hearing has been off lately. I have heard some really weird things on TV that was
definitely not being said. They were not advertising a 2014 Subaru. They were advertising a 2019. One. I’m just mishearing stuff like that. So I doubt she actually did call me dumb.

I’ve been told I’m the nicest coworker at my job. That’s fine and all that. But then people try to take advantage of that and get mad when I say no. It’s not my fault my coworker didn’t do things the correct way. This coworker was being really rude in a passive aggressive way. Plus this is one of the ones that has always been really nice in the past. I stood my ground and didn’t give into her demands. She eventually told me “I feel bad” but I’m not sure if she was referring to her actions or someone else’s actions towards me. Either way I was just annoyed when I left. I’m glad I stood my ground though. I’m glad I can say no.

I can't get a job not because of a lack of skill or ability to deal with office issues; I can't get a job because of prejudicial rejection. Once I'm actually hired, people think I'm a good worker, but it's practically impossible to get that far. I can't even get interviews, anymore. As soon as they see my name they shut me down.

I'm sorry to hear that, theurother. in some instances, that would be illegal (where I live) but employers might do it anyways. Though not all employers are like that, and I bet you'll find an accepting employer soon.

I had to call into work today. My boss wasn’t happy, but I was actually sick. And when I woke up after I had called in I felt even sicker then before. So I knew I had done the right thing. I fixed the problem by getting medication. If they need an explanation I’ll give them the exact reason. I’m just kind of nervous about facing them.

They don't specify why they reject me - they don't have to, and that's how they get away with it.

The only human contact I get nowadays is the occasional recruiter calling me up about an opportunity, then never hearing from them again.

It seems I have grossly underestimated the bigotry I have been facing; bigotry against me is now being practiced out in the open with no one fearing reprisals. People are publicly announcing I will not be hired because of my mental state, and encouraging others to do the same. I am going to be homeless in a month thanks to this.

i'm sorry to hear that you might end up homeless, theurother. I might be in homeless shelter by next month too.

If you don't have a criminal record, then I can't see any ground for people to target you like that. Even if you do have a criminal record, there are still employers willing to work with that. they are probably very hard to find though.

in some instances, federal contractors are obligated to hire people who have a mental disability.

then there's also going the self-employment route but that's the largest investment of time, money, and resources.

But if you have a Ticket To Work, you can apply it to a local EN or VR agency who will help you find work. There's also a PABSS agency that can help you combat mental disability discrimination issues.

TheUrOther, I'm sorry Hope you'll find something soon. If you had other jobs and they found you good, maybe you could ask there again, or ask them to write a sort of presentation letter for you?

Mountaindewed, don't worry, if you were sick it was good to stay home

I've been "targeted like that" since I was six years old. I have always been discriminated against, harassed, and beaten up. Humanity has never benn shy about it's contempt for my existence.

Self-employment still means needing to get people to buy what I'm selling - there's no way in Hades they'll do that. People would refuse my goods or services even if that meant dying - their dedication to my ostracism is fanatical.

I have no idea what this "Ticket To Work" is.

I’m kind of nervous about work tomorrow. 2 people who work fast are not there and I work really fast but 2 people who work incredibly slow and who are on their phones most of the time and don’t actually work are going to be there instead. I don’t want to be asked to work the weekend because I am already at my limit for the hours I can work. It’s just frustrating when I’m doing my own work plus the work of 1 or 2 other coworkers and then being asked to come in on my days off. My managers notice all this and they appreciate my work. But I am still doing these people’s work. These people do get into trouble but I still get asked to work extra. I do tell them no but then I feel bad.

I feel kind of bad because I asked the manager if I could use the bathroom half an hour after clocking in and he was super nice about it. I had to text my mom and ask her if she could call the dentist for me to see if she could fit me in today. So it wasn’t like I was using it for no reason. It just makes me feel bad when I can’t perform my best at work.

There is another girl shuns me. She's the girl I know from bus ride to and from work. We've met and talked a few times, and all of sudden she avoided me and refused to talk to me.

Unlike the coworkers (who also shunned me), this girl creeps me out. I feel awkward and freak out rather than the sadness from being ignored. She avoids me but she stares at me intensely with that hatred(?) look. I don't know what's her problem. I don't recall offending her. I know there's maybe a possibility that I hurt her feelings without realizing it, but either way she should talk to me about it instead of avoiding me and staring freakily.

I'd like to not meet her again during the bus ride.

It's Monday. and I never been as depressed and miserable as today when I go to work. Thinking to make a thread to vent, but by time I have my time off, I'll be too tired to do so. Besides, I rarely get any responses though.

Terrified of going back to work full-time but I have no choice, I have to suck it up and do it. Hoping to God I get an interview for job that emailed me last week.

I'm sorry for everyone who is being scared to go to work I know what it feels like. I'm having a break for Easter. In the last period before the break my work went quite well, hope not to have other bad times with anxiety and so on when I go back.

My boss asked me if I called in sick yesterday and I said “yeah and I went to the doctor” she asked me if it was anything serious and I said “no he just wants me to relax and take it easy.” Then I was thinking I should have explained more so when the other manager came up to me I started rambling about how “I went to the doctor and it was nothing serious but it was more muscular and it should go away in 2-4 weeks and I lowered my sleep number setting and that helped a lot but I had some swollen lymph nodes”

Did I sound like an idiot rambling to him? He was really nice about it. I had come in on my day off and he was really appreciative about it. They are really understanding at my job. I know the first manager wasn’t checking up on me I just wanted them to know what was going on. I just felt like maybe the comment about the sleep number was kinda stupid but that was a big part of how I was feeling today.

I have decided to take the WHV program for a better employment. I've been thinking about it for 2 years and this is the biggest step I'm going to take.

While I'm eligible to take it, the process is long and there's a chance of failure. But what sadden me the most... is the realization that I will leave everything behind. My lovely pet turtles, friends, family, everything.

It makes me cry after a long time. In fact I'm crying while I'm typing this. And I'll continue crying tonight and probably tomorrow.

I actually become speechless when talking to certain people at work. My anxiety gets the best of me and I freeze and I can’t actually get the correct words out. No one takes offense to it or has said anything. I show I’m a good employee through my work. So I don’t think they care if I’m a incoherent idiot when they try talking to me.

It’s not like I don’t try either. I have conversations in my head on how to respond correctly if I’m asked about certain stuff. Sometimes it works. Other times my mind goes completely blank when actually asked.
