I work as a webcam model on the internet, I enjoy it and do well for myself. My boyfriend doesn't mind and in fact he encourages me. However, my parents keep ignoring the idea and keep suggesting I find a job. I don't want to find another job right now because I enjoy what I do and it makes me depressed that nobody takes it seriously.. (mainly my parents).. I feel as if they have this idea in their head that I'm going to have the same work ethic as them but I just currently don't...

Well, I understand that you are doing well with your work. I don't know much about internet modeling. I hope it is something tastefully done. I do understand how your parents feel about it. They probably have concerns about whether it will last or not, and if not what are you going to do then. They are looking after you and want the best for you. So, don't take their concerns negatively. They are worried about you and your future.

Why don't you consider a part-time job on the side, that way you are building life skills when the modeling career ends.

Some jobs are more "socially acceptable" than others , that's just the way of it. Not judging , that's just how life goes . It's not unreasonable to expect some people would have concerns about it , in this case your parents . Having spent 37 years working 50-70 hrs per week at something that has never really fulfilled me . Averaging one sick day every two years . I'd say I fall under the catagory of good work ethic . If I'd had the opportunity to do something I enjoyed , was easier , while still offering that long term financial security to my family I would have jumped at it . It's just weighing up those things . Assuming your current role relies on good physical and personality skills , there have been many who have made a career out of that . There's a Dita von Teese who has made a lot of money out of burlesque and seems fairly happy . To some burlesque would be a socially unacceptable job . In the end , like in anything , you have to make your own choices in life . First box to tick off is am I hurting anyone , including myself ? Then you move on to job satisfaction , sustainability and financial remuneration. If you are successful , everyone comes around in the end .
