At work every month, I have to write 7 seven-page reports, one for each website and however many for each client. I may even gain a new client, which means additional reports.

I have been working on these reports for four days straight, and I am still not done. I am SO burnt out on them... I cannot imagine having to do this every single month!!! What the hell??

I want to tell my boss that this is WAY too much. I mean, each page of the report needs in-depth analysis, plus recommendations. That's why it takes so long to write them.

And the recommendations? So we also have project plans to follow each month for every client. With each monthly report, new recommendations are made that we need to fit into the project plans, based on last month's data.

I am just burnt out! This new job is going to kick my *** and already is.

Should I bring this up to my boss? That these reports are too hefty? It's a protocol that they follow and have been following for however long. I don't know what to do... do I just suck it up since I am still relatively new? I've been there for three months now.

I don't know how I am going to survive reporting week every month, though. I am just so done with it all.

I would say this actually pretty typical, although for me it's quarterly, not monthly. I'm going through this right now as we finished the 3rd quarter and are having to review progress made and projects completed as well as make assessments on Q4 goals. It does take about a whole week to wade through.

You could bring it up to your boss and just say, "you know, these reports are taking quite a while, and I was wondering if you have any tips to make them go faster or if I could suggest some ways to cut down on the time spent reporting so we can be more productive." If you phrase it that way you are (1) asking your boss as the expert for suggestions, which they like, and (2) suggesting that you could make some recommendations to increase productivity, which means more $$$, which they also like.

I guarantee you that everyone dealing with those kind of reports struggles with it, so don't be too hard on yourself.
