I’m really struggling. I’m only working 4 hour shifts too. This week work changed my schedule without notifying me. Luckily I looked at the last minute or else I wouldn’t have shown up today. Now I’m working tomorrow too. I felt bad saying no when they asked because I had said no to 2 days last week. My anxiety is through the roof and I’m not putting myself first like my therapists and doctors have told me to do. But I feel like if I tell work no to the extra hours then that will cause issues with them. What should I be doing? The stress and anxiety is getting difficult to manage.

Deep breaths. Maybe think about it for a little bit and if you know you really can’t do those extra shifts, find out if they can adjust your schedule? Or if you can do it, remind them this is outside your schedule and you don’t want to make a habit of it? Sometimes my anxiety comes from a fear of an issue developing in the future.
Thanks for this!

A former manager at my last job now works at a grocery store I used to work at a few years ago. He was a jerk to me. Today He looked at me, I looked at him. I’m pretty sure he recognized me. My mom was checking out. I bolted the other way away from him. This is the second manager in a week I’ve seen around. I just don’t want the word to somehow get to my current job that I told my former job off and quit on the spot. I do still feel awful about that. Even the worst people at my current job have given their 2 weeks notice and pretty much stuck to it. I also feel bad because I still go this grocery store and I am very friendly with 3-4 cashiers I used to work with. I don’t “want” to avoid the store just because of the manager. But I just don’t want to cause any problems for myself. The fact that he recognized me really freaked me out.
