But ignores my requests for a raise. I making 3 dollars an hour less than my coworker. I'm treated unfairly, and I'm getting very angry. Enough to file a claim through ada. She knows I have a disability, and I'm doing the same job.

That’s bad. Is it exact same position? Same number of years of work experience (like if she started 3 years before you etc)? What is her response when you ask for more money?
Are you able to maintain your disability if you start making that much more? |

I can make 2 dollars an hour more. She started 4 months before me. She does check my work, but essentially the same job.

If she checks your work, she is probably considered to be a supervisor of sorts. That’s maybe why she gets paid more. I am surprised people in your place know what everyone makes. It’s not a common practice to share those things

are you both in the EXACT same position? (are position descriptions the exact same, word for word)
does her position involve reviewing other employees work, then I would assume she is considered some type of a supervisor she did start 2 months prior to you which could account for the higher pay scale if it is a private company then they can pay what ever they wish to employees..they may value some parts of her background, experience etc more then yours (perhaps she has a certain skill set that you are not aware of that would justify the higher wage) either way, I would be careful filing a claim..someone "doing essentially the same job" may certainly be entitled to a higher salary. don't ask for a review unless you are ready for all the answers. |

I have never understood why people share how much they make per hour or salary amount. Why do you know she makes more? Any job I have ever had it was part of the policy no talk about pay to anyone except the manager or boss.
If you were to get a raise will it effect your disability amount or your section 8 housing?

raises are at the whim of the employer. unless you work for the federal gov't..then you get time in grade steps pay raises but you do have to maintain a positive work appraisal. but in the private sector, especially non union shop...good luck
