I've written previously about my corrupt former company.
It is now my belief that my former boss and team manager manipulated and finagled a situation so that I would either be fired or let go. It's far too coincidental the timing of when I was laid off. They had devised a task for me that was impossible for me to accomplish. No one else on the team was tasked with this unreasonable request except for me. I wrote my team manager explaining that it was beyond my abilities and handed in what I could accomplish on the task. He never replied to that email. Not even a week later, I was let go/laid off. And I was the only one in the company who was let go. Granted, it's a 22-person company, so it's very small and two people had been laid off prior to COVID. But I was the only one let go during COVID. I am convinced that they went to HR about it, complaining that I did not complete this task. So it is now my belief that my team manager and boss schemed together to try and get rid of me. My team manager knew full well due to prior conversations that this type of task was beyond my abilities because I had said so. I had been fully aware of the fact that my boss and team manager felt extremely threatened by my knowledge, which was far greater than either of theirs in our industry. Both felt threatened by me because I could have easily risen to a Director level role. If I had risen, it could have placed each of their jobs in jeopardy. My boss had been trying to undermine my success for a long time. This I knew. And my team manager felt threatened by me because I often disagreed with his strategies and followed my own strategies, which I thought would be for more effective than his. So I think there was foul play that played a role in my being let go. And I am enraged by it. I worked very hard there. I was passionate about my job and about my clients' success. I was well liked by all my clients. I was honest and ethical with my clients; they were not. They often lied to clients and skewed the truth. They also have very little experience in the industry, yet somehow both of them rose to a management position because they were able to "wow" the CEO with their BSing skills and manipulate the CEO into thinking they knew more than they actually do. I have six more years of experience in the field than the team manager did, and seven more years of experience than my boss did. I was the most knowledgeable and successful in the entire dept and it showed. Other team members even told me this. Yet what happened? I, being the top performer, got laid off because my boss and team manager didn't want me there anymore. I hope and pray for justice to be served in this most unjust situation. I absolutely despise them for what they've done -- they are despicable human beings who both deserve to be fired. I am praying for the truth to come to light.

It’s upsetting.
I wonder who would be making a final decision of letting you go. Wouldn’t it be CEO? Even if they complained to HR, HR is not above them or above CEO. HR doesn’t make decisions about fire or hire but they could alert higher ups. Why did CEO signed up on that? Or is there anyone above him? I know of few people who sued over unlawful dismissal from a job (one at my work one at my husbands and one at a friends place of work). One lost the lawsuit, one was reinstated and one won big money settlement. If you believe it was done incorrectly (for example is there a policy that you have to be written up or receive additional training if you don’t do the job right before being let go and they violated it) maybe it’s worth trying to fight them. Overall I am a bit taken aback with your CEO. He though nothing of letting you go without offering extra training but thought it was fine to have long chit chats about your marriage, inviting you to drinking lunch and asking you to his cottage. Yet he’d not bother to look into why you are being let go. I know he won’t tell but I’d be tempted to ask why exactly you were let go. You can frame it as wanting to make sure you don’t repeat the same mistakes in other jobs. If he thinks it’s ok to do all other creepy things, it should be ok to explain what happened to you |
