Thanks @Bill3. Luckily, I am not THAT upset. I mean, I AM upset, but I did not appreciate their interview process, so it's not too too upsetting.

My boss was out "sick" for the last two days. I think it's suspect. I think she was spoken to and that's why she was out of the office.

AND..... I asked for feedback as to WHY I was being passed over for this role, and I received NO response. She had even written in her rejection letter to me that they want to keep the door open with me in case another suitable position arises.
I went to my parents' home for dinner and they asked if my interviewers were all men, and I said YES. They think it's agism and sexism at play. I told my parents that I thought my presentation was really good and well thought out. Perhaps they don't want a female on the team who is talented. WHO KNOWS?!? I certainly don't know and I'm scratching my head. I mean, I put hours of work into that presentation. HOURS. And I did think it through THOROUGHLY. I gave them my best recommendation for website content, and it was well built out as a strategy to drive more traffic and business to the website. One of my best girlfriends tells me to view it as a learning experience and to gain from it whatever I can. And the truth is, I CAN learn from this experience because I had never built out that kind of a content strategy before, so it was in fact a beneficial exercise for me to do. Perhaps this will benefit me down the road somehow. I am trying to see the silver lining here and to place a more positive spin on the whole experience. Nonetheless, being rejected yet again and being a finalist FOUR TIMES in a row, and then being rejected really smarts and SUCKS. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

I have another interview tomorrow. And so it goes - on and on and on... the interview process. I am no longer holding onto hope. I'm discouraged, despite having had a positive first interview with this company.
I don't know WHAT is going on! Either I am interviewing for the wrong positions, my salary is too high, or my interview skills have taken a nosedive. But I would think given that I continue to be a finalist, that I must be doing something right through the interview process? It's just that final round where they decide I am not fit or suitable, which makes me think they've gone for a cheaper option, but I really don't know. I wish I had feedback to go on. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

I cancelled my interview for today. I don't want to go through with it. First off, it's a TINY start up organization of 5-6 people, which means I would be expected to carry a LOT of responsibility and cannot rely on others for their expertise, which I prefer and want in a company. Secondly, I am burnt out on interviewing. Thirdly, it's no longer dire that I leave my company asap.
I feel a little guilty for turning my back on an opportunity, but then again, I don't think it was the right one for me. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes Last edited by Have Hope; Nov 23, 2021 at 07:22 AM.. |

I'd do the same thing - give it a whirl without the tyrant around!

I realized that even with that witch gone, I am dissatisfied with the work I am doing. I would prfer to work in-house again, and not for a digital agency. I don't want to work on client websites that suck. I want to work on a large website that has loads of content for me to work with. So, I think I know what I want - now I just need to find it. I saw an ad on Facebook advertising for this company that coaches you and helps you land a job. I may sign up - though you pay them for their coaching after you've landed the job and after you've been paid. It could be worthwhile, or it could be a total waste. Given the difficulties I've had in landing a job offer, I figure why not submit my resume and see what they tell me. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

She really was! I can't believe how bad she actually was! Did I mention that she called my colleague an idiot? A colleague who has a learning disorder? Dyslexia? I think that was the final straw that got her fired.

Well, this morning I received some tough feedback from someone that had interviewed me in the last round of interviews with that company. He said my technical knowledge is lacking, while I have great content skills. He couldn't speak to why they didn't hire me, but my guess is that's why. He pointed me to several articles and also said I need to read technical blogs.
I am thankful to receive this feedback but also very disheartened. My current company has done little to help train and educate me in my field. We are left unto ourselves to educate and train ourselves because leadership has been lacking. So I feel really disheartened by the feedback, but I guess encouraged that at least he had the decency to write me back and answer my question. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

That must have been hard to hear.
Within your current company, how are technical matters addressed? |

Well, then I found out even more info. They apparently (and without being open about it) were looking for 2 technical people to replace to technical digital marketers who had left. SO, I was doomed from the start, and without them overtly saying they wanted a technical expert. So, it was a complete waste of my time. Had I know what they really wanted, I never would have applied! I am super annoyed.

I also feel like I do not interview as well as I could. My meds cloud my thinking. I increased my abilify 6 months ago and doubled the dosage. I want to decrease it again to where it was for many years because I can think better and more clearly that way. I am slower to respond on a higher dosage and my thinking is just not as quick as it used to be. I don't convey my knowledge as well as I could be in these interviews. It really bothers me.
As it is, I was contacted for a Director level role and have an interview next Tuesday. I need to figure this out before then. Argh. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |
