I'm so nervous that I could start smoking again. What I'm trying to do instead is to go for long walks with my dog a and drink a lot of herbal tea. Still that urge is there and I know once I start smoking again it will be a pack a day habit like it was before. For me it's feast or famine.
Jeez, I'm even thinking about smoking crack again! I't been 5 years since I smoked that junk so I'm out of that world thank god! Still that urge hits me every now and then.
What I'm nervous about is a jury summons I recieved in the mail. I really am afraid of going to this. I'm pretty sure, thought that my psychaitrist will write me a letter excusing me. Still I'm scared to death.

Don't worry Michele - I bet your psychiatrist will definately write you a note and for sure they'll excuse you. I'm not a smoker but - would keeping your mouth busy help -like shelling sunflower or pumpkin seeds. My husband tried the 'green cigarette'- it looks like a cigarette, battery operated and you inhale a nicotine vapour that's not as strong as a real cigarette. Try not to worry, I'm almost positive you'll be released from jury duty.

Yes I agree with the OP.. Get a letter from your doctor stating you can't attend due to mental health issues and that will take care of your jury duty..The smoking bit.. I give you kudos for quitting.. I am a smoker for forty one years and find it impossible to quit..Try not to be to hard on yourself..

(((((Michele))))) for sure you will get off jury duty with the psych note. As for the smoking I am so impressed, I have been smoking for 30 years now and never once considered giving them up and you have just inspired me to think about it seriously. There is a medication called chantix here that is supposed to be really effective I dont know if you have it in the US or maybe it has another name. Major bonus points to you and dont worry about the jury service.

Yes Paddy they have Chantix in the U.S. - not sure about Canada. I know it works good for most people, but there is a small risk this drug can cause suicidal thoughts - so please if anyone is considering this, be careful.

Good news! I got off jury duty with a psych note. It wasn't a problem getting it.
Paddy, I wouldn't take Chantix if I were you it has some side effects that could be determental to you and your psych problems.
Thanks for this!
