I am a pothead. I smoke all day, everyday. I also have depression and anxiety which doesn't help. I want to be a musician but I never do anything. I'm stressed out even if I'm not productive. I'm 18 and I have no diploma, no job, no money. That is why I try to forget about EVERYTHING.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so down, maybe you should cut back on smoking a little. I used to consider myself a pothead, i smoked it everyday several times a day. It can cause depression and anxiety, at least it did for me. Have you looked into getting your GED? That would give you a goal to work towards and maybe pursue something in music after that. Just some friendly suggestions, I hope you get to feeling better.

Hey so punk rock,

I noticed that you're in/around D.C.
Do you think it might help to get involved in a group around there?
It sounds like with your interest in music you have a lot to offer.
I happen to know of a few through another web site. Sometimes its just good to get out... I bet they could always use some volunteer help.

www.positiveforcedc.org
www.provisionslibrary.org

Hope you feel better.
ps. Are you seeing a therapist now? I have found it very helpful...

i've gone through periods of my life where i felt like i was in a very similar place.... i.e. smoking all the time. i thought it was helping me cope with the emotions & anxiety. maybe for some select people it really does without side effects.

BUT - i've noticed that when i stopped smoking all the time, i was able to have that little bit more motivation/energy to start - one thing at a time can be helpful - accomplishing things i wanted and needed to do.

i had to learn other ways to cope with the emotions and anxiety, but most of the time i'm okay with that.

just my viewpoint.

good luck!

Ive only tried it once and it didnt affect me but im a freak. takes 18 shots in the mouth to numb me and i have to take adderall 3 times a day because it wears off in 5 hrs instead of 6-12.

I'm a marine but im not going to preach and rant for you to stop.
i have a few friends that are fully functional and smoke any where from 2 times a day to 1-2 times a week, and i dip around 1-2 cans a day.

so one of the biggest things i can tell you as i am only 21 is that
1. if you cant afford it then cut back because your crutch(and mine) isnt worth not being able to get food or pay bills.
2. if it affects your family life cut back and see if it helps, family is all we have in the end and even if their not really your family as long as their always there and support you they min as well be.

and if i sit in a room for more than a few days it starts to mess with my head.

so get out even if you dont feel like it. go out side and feel the grass between your toes or enjoy the weather. you have to enjoy the little things in life because thats what gets u through the "storms".

Do you live at home with your parents? Only you can take charge of your life. So, what do you do first? Where do you get the money to smoke?
