In a nut shell, after just being released from a psych ward for 7 days...
Went in only to get on meds after 4years, scizoaffective. Told ER Doc I DID NOT want anything speed based as I refuse to become an addict & did not want xanax anymore as it's addictive & I felt I was going down that road. Doc started me on Geodon & a blood pressure med for anzity. 7 days later found out it was opiate based, heavy at that, so left & stopped the meds asap. This put me into a 30 withdrawl of something that only biblical details of hell can come close to. This I had never gone through before as I never take drugs like that, for that reason. So, in 7 days, a Pdoc took someone who has never took opiates to a full on addict, & I thank God every minute I found the strenth through Him & my family to get off of it before it was to late. Is this not completely backwards? I hated Seriquil but would gladly take it over Geodon. They almost ruined my life, what is this world coming to.... In the meantime I did get away from all the stressers in life for a minute & being doped up felt really good for a week, so now plan to see my own doc to get on something NOT ADDICTIVE. Any comments welcome. |

Good grief. You tell them you DON'T want anything addictive, so they put you on EVERYTHING that's addictive.
![]() Thank God you have sense enough to do what you're supposed to do. I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict ~ I remember trying to get off of Xanax ~ dear Lord, that was AWFUL. Even tho I weaned off, I thought I had gnomes in my guts. Unfortunately I'm a chronic painer and have to take opiates - but NOW I take them EXACTLY as prescribed and I DO NOT crave them. It's weird. I just need them for pain -- never have had a high. If I EVER feel funny on anything, I'm getting off immediately. You're right Paulson -- they did almost ruin things for you. God bless you!!! this is a horror story. i had the same done to me years ago with zanex. it was horrible being weaned off.
the safest thing you can do when prescribed something now that u're out of the psych ward is research the drug before filling it. docs are creating drug addicts and it infuriates me. it's not required they take more courses in addiction/alcoholism while in school. don't understand why since addiction is a disease and worse yet can cause death. glad u're on your way to recovery.
