Tomorrow (Sat.) some people from my AA homegroup are putting on a sober Valentine's dance. Naturally since it's my homegroup, I kind of feel like I have to go, and part of me wants to since it beats sitting around feeling sorry for myself.

But I'm nervous. I haven't been sober at a dance since High School, which was 25+ years ago, and I remember that as being awkward. I've never ever danced sober in my life as an adult. I'm afraid of looking like an idiot. And what if no one wants to talk to me? See all my old insecurities are coming out.

But I will go, and I hope I'll have a good time.

I sure hope you go, mainly I think because you've made this promise of going.

And please come back to tell us how it goes.

i was scared too at first but found the courage to integrate back, or ever, in my life doing sober things. one of my hinderances was not knowing how to have fun sober.
i think you will find this very much a pleasant experience. and you will remember the party the next day too!!!

I closed my eyes and focused on the music. It got easier, so I opened my eyes and put a smile on my face! I faked it til I made it!!

So, HOW WAS IT?!

I've done a lot of dances without alcohol. Mostly because I get crazy dizzy if I'm drinking and spinning around in the wheelchair.

It was kind of awkward at first, but once I got into it, it was fun. Everyone was dancing up a storm.
