I don't know if I am posting in right area, but I figured I might as well start somewhere and have someone tell me I was wrong. I try to figure out these problems, and I try to cope with them, though I just cover it all up with weed and alcohol. Anger, panic, anxiety, more thoughts that distort everything impede the process of trying to get my life in order. This stuff has caused me to lose verything, or maybe it was selfish reasoning or something. I am trying to figure out if I really have problems, well who doesnt, but If I need professional help or I just need to lie in the bed I made for myself. Or whatever else expression you want to use. SOrry, kinda intixicated, so delete this post if need. Thanks for listening. I am lost with this all and it takes me getting drunk to talk about it.

Sounds to me like you definitely need help, especially if you've lost everything.

Weed and alcohol are only making things worse. Both are depressants.

Why not take in some AA meetings? Go and listen to what they have to say. Believe me, they've all been where YOU are right now. They'll help you out. They'll help you get clean & sober. But you have to WANT to get clean & sober more than anything else. Do you? Have you decided that getting high & drunk are the reasons that you're in the predicament that you're in? They are, you know. If you were sober, you wouldn't have these problems, most likely.

Maybe going inpatient would be best for you -- see your doctor, and see if he can arrange it for you. There are 30, 90 day programs, and sometimes even longer.

Please get some help, IF YOU WANT IT. But you have to want it more than anything else. I wish you the very best. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee

here's what i was told, if you think or ask if you have a problem with drugs/alcohol, you probably do. for me the answer/solution was AA. attending some meetings may help you. if you identify from something you hear there it can help you decide.
also when i was abusing alcohol i had multiple symptoms caused by using it for an escape route, panic attacks, depression, instability in my life and daily actions or no action at all to help myself, etc. my intoxification was the only thing i lived for. i am on the depressant side but all my symptoms improved with sobriety.
hope this helps.

I didnt used to drink, was very light drinker before everything went.. I have been smoking marijuana for 20+ years, about the only thing that helped with the rest. I dont have a doctor. Yes I need to get a handle on it before it does me in. Yes I do want help. I have been trying to find it, though I keep getting turned away.

Hello crucifixio,

I believe recovery from active addiction will require a honest and expressed desire for healthy change in your life.

No one can safely extend their hand to you, unless you first reach out for help.

I don't think addiction is the only issue, but your right about being honest with myself on some things.

i'm so glad you posted crucixio. perhaps part of the characteristics in this article may help you. when i was still in active addiction i used the drug to escape my emotions or thought it helped me somehow to function better.

INTERNAL

  • Internal characteristics of substance abuse include a feeling of having to use your drug regularly, ensuring you always have access to the drug, having difficulty when trying to stop taking the drug, and feeling like you need the drug to help you with problems, according to the Mayo Clinic. In addition, you may be having relationship trouble, neglect your responsibilities, make dangerous decisions and forgo activities you used to enjoy, according to the Helpguide website. Regardless of the substance, the internal characteristics of substance abuse are often similar, and as they increase, so does the likelihood of substance abuse becoming an addiction, notes the Helpguide website.
