oh, let's see..........your brain and motor functions are greatly impaired. your liver is being damaged irrepairably.

your brain cells that are being destroyed will not regenerate.
your relationships are probably suffering..if you have any by now.

your're probably spending money that you need elsewhere.

you may have lost some of your friends.

it may be hard to find a job and keep it. if none of this has happened, or if you're in denial about it.....just wait, it will happen.

if you have children, you're setting a perfectly horrid example for them. anything else? xoxo pat

What harm have you seen it do? What are people around you saying about your drinking?

Well, it's still rather a lot to drink. What is it exactly that you do drink? Since some beers are stronger than others... I'd say it is doing some damage to your liver since it's not having chance to recover between your drinking. Maybe you'll have put on some weight too. Why do you drink so much anyway? I hope you don't drive because you will be over the limit What harm does alcohol do?

I drank beer. Usually 6 or 7 during the work week, at night, and how ever many I wanted on weekends. It started "socially at the bar" and turned into drinking at home alone. This happened in about the space of 4 years. Catch it early. I'm 27 and have been sober almost a year. Life without alcohol is amazing. I don't need it. If you didn't think it was an issue, somewhere deep down, you would not have posted this here. Just try not drinking AT ALL for one week. Not a drop for one week. If you can go one week and not be miserable without it, then it's probably ok. Try it more than once. It might be worse a bad case of jitters if you get some knowledge about your drinking.

Here is another of those threads that I said I was going to take a pass on.

Zowee, you ask a fair question, what harm have I done? Maybe none. My sponsor has told me at least 100 times that if alcohol still did for him what it did when he first started, he would still be doing it. It was his courage in a bottle. It got him into and out of things he never would have been able to do all by himself.

As he puts it, It made him 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Who wouldn’t go back to something that did all that?

I don’t have a good answer for you on how well your life is going, only you can answer that. But of all the responses you got, I might give a bit of weight to the query Raynaadi posed…

“If you didn't think it was an issue, somewhere deep down, you would not have posted this here.” It seems to me that we never find ourselves in places like this by mistake.

You're right! I just love this term "You can drink yourself stupid"

Just remember that if you decide to drink and if your liver gets damage to the point that you need a transplant... your name goes WAY down to the bottom of the list.. You might as well write down your last will and testament and get an early start of preparing your funeral. Thousands of people die each year because they were waiting for an organ transplant, some die from organ rejections.

An alcoholic does not have to be someone who drinks so much every day. There is no such pattern to being an alcoholic. No guidelines to follow. We just know ourselves when the time has come and that something is wrong and we are out of control and the alcohol has control over us. That is when troubles begin I drank for about 25 years and to this day do not know why I still have a liver. The brain has taken its toll but not my liver. Maybe I was spared that evil for some strange reason. A question for you is why did you ask this question in the first place? Is it starting to make you think about your drinking.
