Hey all,

I just recently joined the forums here and have found them extremely supportive. I am an alcoholic (along with other mental health issues: BPD, depression, anxiety). I thought I would come here and introduce myself.

I'm in the 12 step program of Alcoholics Anonymous, and have been sober for around 18 months now. I regularly attend meetings and love the program a LOT! I have a great sponsor and we're working the steps.

I got into the program after a pretty harsh bottom. I am so grateful today that I'm alive and sober. By some miracle I am here when my disease tells me I should not be.

I thought I'd stop by and say hello, share some hope and gratitude!
Hugs from:

Thanks for this!

Hello and WELCOME! It's great to see new 'faces' here. I'm glad you found us. And congrats on 18 months clean/sober! That's great. And i bet I know how you did it too -- one day at a tiime, right? Thank God for AA because without it, I'd be dead right now. I drank heavily for 20 years (blackout drinker) and finally joined AA. My first sober day was July 29, 1993 and I've been sober ever since thru the grace of God, AA, and people like you.

So, Stratocaster, again welcome! And I hope we hear more from you. I know you'll add alot to this forum! God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee

Hey thanks for the great welcome everyone. These forums have already been very supportive, so thank you again!

Yes, Leed, I did it (and still do) one day at a time. I remind myself everyday that I am powerless over alcohol, I get on my knees and ask my higher power for help! I was also a blackout drinker (suicide drinker) had absolutely NO control, would drink to the point of blackouts too.

I hear in the program "there are three places this disease will inevitably take you: jail, instituions or death." I would also be dead if it weren't for the program. I am so grateful for AA, and all of you. Thank YOU!

One day at a time, keep coming back!

Hi Stratocastor,

Nice to meet you. I love your avatar - very cute. I'm also in AA and find the program very helpful.

Hope to continue to see you around.
