The deaths of my two brothers (from Heroin) was recently referred to by someone as suicide.

I guess I'd never thought of it that way, and it has confused me. Any thoughts?

I guess dead is dead and it doesn't really matter.

Only they will really know the answer to this question.... but suicide is done on purpose, where as an accidentally death is just that - some action takes place that takes one life, but it was never meant to be that way.... What do YOU think?

When son got alcohol poisoning and almost died, they deemed it a suicide attempt. He said in beginning it wasn't. But they felt that while it was not an active suicide event, subconsciously, he did want to die. He did confirm that later.

So, I don't know Petunia. Son says this, while he is not actively suicidal at this time, he is not trying to not die. It sure didn't matter if it was an active attempt or a reckless desire when he was lying on the gurney with a tube sticking out of his throat while they breathed for him.

I am so sorry for your loss Petunia. I wish you much peace.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Self-destruction vs. suicidal tendencies. One in the same I guess.

The oldest of the two died the first time when he was 19 years old. I was 13 and was the one who woke up and sounded the "alarm."

He was DOA, revived, and within 24 hours of being released from the hospital was using again. He overdosed more times than I can recall. I heard recently from one of his clean "user" buddies that they died together once...both DOA but revived.

I saved his life that night, giving him enough time to have eight clean years, a wife, two kids and a dog before he fell for the final time. I don't know if that was a good thing or not. His kids don't remember him and they grew up without a Dad.

He never did lose that blue tint.

Or maybe I never stopped seeing it.

The last time he died for good...he was thirty-eight years old. Junkies

"The deaths of my two brothers (from Heroin) was recently referred to by someone as suicide."

Just because I am me and because I care for you Petunia I'm going to reply to this post. This is my simple opinion:

Some people takes Heroin and they might die from it.

Some people eat to much fat and even though they know its dangerous for having a heart attack, they will eat it anyway.

Some people drink alcohol and even though it affects their liver and they might die from it they will drink anyway.

Some people smoke and even if they can get cancer or any other kind of illnesses that smoking can bring they will smoke anyway.

Some people like to drive fast and even though an accident can happen so fast they will drive fast anyway.

Some people work and work and work. They never stop working even exausted they will keep on working even though they can take a heart attack, they will keep on working.

Some people have illnesses where they have to watch constantly what they eat or drink but sometime they cheat or come to a point they don't care risking heart attack, stroke. They will do it anyway.

Some people takes medications where they shouldn't work with power tools or drive, because itcan be dangerous to hurt themselves even death, they will do it anyway.

Some people go hunting with guns. Deadly accident can occured in the woods. They will go anyway.

We all cross that border line sometime. It doesn't mean we want to die or commit suicide.

Thank you time0. You're right.

Overdose, Aids, suicide, accidental.

Dead is dead is dead, it doesn't matter.

When my other brother, the one that died of Aids told me he was HIV he said,

"I played with fire and I got burnt. If I knew the 'disease' had come to (insert city here) I would've been more careful."

He never said he would've quit. Just that he would've bleached his needles.

Maybe this is surfacing because I just learned of the death of yet another one of their friends. Cirrhosis of the liver this time. That and Hep C are getting the ones who aren't od-ing and suffocating on their vomit or dying from Aids.

Maybe this will pass soon. There are only a few of them left.

Now if I could rouse this anger in real life and beat up some pillows...but I can't. I cry instead.
