Just wondered if anyone had taken it, or had thoughts on it. A lot of the guys in my aftercare group are on it, and were pretty pro about it. I've looked it up in my drug guide and some of the side effects are kind of scary. But I'm still considering it - as a safety check to the impulse drink.

I've never known anyone who had to take it. From what I've heard, it doesn't stop cravings, only makes you really sick if you drink on it. I've been able to stay sober without meds, so I can only give my own experience...since I know it can be done without drugs, I never considered it.

This is true it only makes you sick on it, many have drank on it anyways if you are going to drink there is no power on earth that can stop it. it is solely up to the person.

My oldest brother had to be on it after his DUI-- it was court ordered, I think.
He's been drinking since he was a teenager and he's in his early fifties now. It didn't stop him from drinking at all-- but then maybe that's just him. ??? he lost his license again so at least he won't be driving for a long time.

I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do.

Like what was said earlier, if you are going to want to drink, nothing on earth is going to stop us. Just look to what leangths we went to drink when we wanted to. The same will be true while taking it. I was on it and drank anyway because I was NOT ready to stop yet. Thank God now I don't need it and am still sober without it. Just my opinion is all this is though.

Why not try it? It might help you. If it doesn't then what's the harm? Good wishes on this. Antabuse???

ster..you are right on target. The man in the next apt. was trying to drink while on antabuse. I could hear him vomitting clear from my apt. and the walls are pretty thick between apts.

He no longer drinks now tho. He is a total hermit. He barely leaves his apt. The friends and family that used to come to see him no longer come. It's very sad! Antabuse???
