hi there sugahorse. i use the chaper five in the big book of AA and the 12 and 12 book with my sponsees. those books offer you the support you are looking for.
i hope this info is helpful to you. chapter five touches on all the steps that are incorporated in it. both books are very reasonable costs. i'n bipolar also but was able to rise above those challenges by seeking truth re drugs or alcohol. please keep us aware of how you are doing. i do understand your challenge.

The Hazeldon Foundation produces some very good works related to alcoholic remission.

I've read one called Keep It Simple which I found very helpful as a positive
influence on learning good techniques for living well.

A second one called Forgiving and Moving On was also helpful, written by a PHD who was reared in a dysfunctional home. Her childhood was hectic, but she overcame it by learning about herself and applying what she learned. It was very instructive, too, on good mental approaches to things that happen in life.

Good wishes and good reading!
Thanks for this!

Hi,

I like to read the Daily Reflections every morning. But what really helped me get off pot was going to AA meetings, making contacts and getting a sponsor with many years of sobriety.

Take Care,

TnT

There's also an AA book called "Twelve Steps & Twelve Traditions." You might be able to get that online too, I'm not sure.

Yes, the big book and 12 steps and 12 traditions, I also read daily reflections, but there is one more book I REALLY like and I can really relate to its called Easy Does It: A book of daily 12 step meditations. The book says " daily affirmations add up to a years worth of inspiration, trust and hope one day at a time" try that and see if that helps.

Hi I had the AA big book and 12x12 when first around in AA but my mind was too frazzled to understand them at the time. I got on well with a book called Undrunk a skeptics guide to AA, that explained it all better for me. It was the hardest thing I ever did getting free from alcohol and benzos yet after 3 years off it all it feels good to be alive and that horrible empty hole in my soul feeling inside is gone now. I hope things get better for you, if you call the AA helpline or email them they would be happy to explain the 12 step program.
