I didn't go to rehab but know a lot of people who did. It works for many, if you feel you have a problem.

I spent a month in inpatient rehab program and am glad I did it. Our days were pretty busy from 7 am to 8 pm with lots of exercise, talks and group therapy. The staff were all really nice and most of the councillors were in recovery themselves. The only part I really didn't like was being told what to do all the time and the constant supervision from the nursing staff.

Not sure what you're coming off of, but you might want to get some medical supervision as withdrawl can be pretty nasty - I had a seizure from alcohol withdrawl.

Good luck with what you decide.

Orion,
Rehab can help you detox and stabalize while getting some
basic education about your addiction and one on one
counseling. A halfway house might be a logical next step
if you've been practicing your addiction to the point of losing
your home, family support and/or ability to earn a living.
Structure in your life is important for all of us but especially when first clean and sober. If you have a job and home
then I'd strongly recommend AA or NA meeting Daily to stay sober and get the support you need. AA also helps you learn to deal with life without having to drink or drug. Basically, you have the emotional functioning level of the age your addiction started so the steps of AA and NA help
you develop coping skills so important in handing life.
Best of Wishes,
Annie

If you do choose it carefully, there may very well be better options or better rehab. choices.~Down

FWIW, great treatment center - La Hacienda in Hunt, TX. I live close by and even Dr. Phil sends people there. Let me know if you go and I will meet you. I love helping addicts and alcoholics. rehab?
