I'm on my 25'th day of sobriety and have noticed something really weird - i don't want to eat. It's both a case of not being hungry and a case of actually finding the idea of food unappealing. And I used to love cooking and eating.
Everyone else in my treatment group is complaining about cravings for chocolate and sugar, which seems to be more normal due to the high sugar content in alcohol but I seem to have had the complete opposite. i have to force myself to eat. And I've never had any kind of eating disorder before... It's just weird. Anyone wanted to stop eating once they stopped drinking? --splitimage |

whooo hoooo good for you!!!!!! That is great. Alcoholism is such a devistating illness. I am so proud of you. Take it one day at a time. And try to forgive yourself for not wanting to eat. Do what you can, and try not to stress out about it. If it becomes a problem for malnutrician reasons then consult a doctor. But you and your body are going through a lot right now. So take it easy!!!

Yes. I definetly didn't eat as much when I was newly sober. My body was just going through so many changes....I still have times when I have to force myself to eat. So I'd say its totally normal. I didn't turn to food and chocolate and candy like a lot of other people. I lost 40 pounds in my first year. So its not unusual. =)
