An incident happened yesterday.

Prelude: I've been addicted to all sorts of over the counter diet pills from gnc for years. They contain stimulants so they're pretty close to amphetamines.

Yesterday I went overboard. I took 4 pills and then I had to go somewhere I couldn't drive bc my leg wouldn't stop shaking. I was so afraid that id have a seizure in the car. It was so scary. I woved I wouldn't take them again but I took this morning. Just wanted to share. It's so scary sometimes. I just want to lose weight and concentrate.

Hello Tangerine87: I'm sorry you had this experience. Yes... it can be SO difficult to change old habits. And when they involve such things as diet pills, that makes it even harder! I have had the same difficulty with self-harm. I'd swear I'd never do it again & then, pretty soon, I'd be right back at it. But... I haven't done it again for quite a while now. That's the good news.

The fact you know you're having difficulty with this is a good sign. I hope you can find a way to beat it! Is there a possibility of joining a weight-loss program or getting some individual or group therapy? (assuming you don't already have these going on...) I am confident there is a way for you to win out over this problem. It's just a matter of finding the right path. My best wishes to you...

Hi Tangerine87! I am so sorry that you had to have this incident, but I am very happy that you noticed it and made the right choice by not driving. I'm glad to hear that you are safe!

I have a family member, with whom I live with, that has had issues with diet and energy pills for as long as I can remember. Her abuse of these pills have led to many health problems and concerns. I have tried so many times over the years to share my concern with her. I have even offered to be a supporting hand in helping her get off these pills. Every time she gets angry with me because she doesn't believe that she has a problem. She honestly doesn't think that her use of these medications are harming her.

I believe that its great that you are realizing the damage you are doing to yourself. Accepting that something is wrong is always the hardest step and it sounds like you are doing that. I wish you the best of luck and strength to do what you believe is right for you!!

Thank you. The problem is I don't want to gain weight which means I have to keep taking these pills.

No, you don't have to keep taking the pills. There are other, less dangerous ways to prevent yourself from gaining weight.

I'm guessing you took about 400mg of caffeine all at once, which I'm sure felt horrendous. What else is in the pills? Have you researched the ingredients? If you are going to take any type of drug, legal or illegal, be educated about what you are taking and its effect on the body. You'd be surprised what some **** can do. You may even wonder, "Why would they put that into a diet pill?"

I bet you would feel so much better, and more in control, if you stopped taking the pills and turned to a healthier outlet. Why do you feel the need to use a pill instead of your own body to control your weight?

Cymbalta, 60mg -- for the depression.
Latuda, 40mg -- for the paranoia (delusional type).
Adderall, 40mg XR & 5 mg reg -- for the ADD.
Xanax, .5 mg as needed -- for the anxiety.
Topamax, 50mg -- still figuring this one out.

MDD, but possibly have some form of Bipolar Disorder. Then again, I could be paranoid . . .

Well, at least I still have my sense of humor.

I sometimes feel like psych meds have worse side effects. Apparently one time I took zyprexa and I completely forgot that I took it . It was erased fr my memory. Same thing happened with lamictal.

Hi Tangerine87,

I know how you feel. It is hard to say 'no' once your are hooked.

You have to be careful not to drive anymore when you take those pills. Have you thought about drinking a lot of coffee?

That's helps me a lot. Coffee can help you stay awake and it'll give you a little buzz. Sometimes it's like a rush if you drink a cup of strong coffee.

I sent you a friend request. I hope you accept and if you need to, send me a private message and I'll give you my phone number. I live in San Francisco so it's early here when it's late in the northeast.
