I had my first drinking dream last night since being sober almost 5 months ago. I dreamt I had some red wine. And the reaction I had in my dream was pretty violent. I woke up with such a start and immediately felt guilty when I realized it was just a dream. Since I dream about everything that goes on in my life, I had wondered when the drinking dreams would start!

Drinking dreams can be pretty disconcerting. I know I've had some doozies. I always find it's such a relief though, once I figure out it was just a dream, and that I didn't really relapse.

I am16 months sober and had a drinking dream last week. Thought I was past that stage! Grateful to wake up and realize it was only a dream. I chose to take the dreams as signs that I need to stay involved in my program, even buckle down a little harder, and spend some inward-looking time to contemplate what possibly triggered the dream. Holiday time with more family interaction that includes them having drinks are definitely a trigger for me.

I don't have them often but they do crop up from time to time. I treat them as just dreams. Not reality but they sure feel like it sometime! I'm 22 years sober.

Been 6 months sober now, feel the urge when passing a bar, have yet to experience a dream though, I'm sure the first one I have will throw me for a loop

I still have them sometimes. Sobered up back in 2006. I still wake up feeling guilty every time. Sometimes even scared. I remember when I was in my first couple years of sobriety, I used to be so scared that having them meant I was going to relapse. They're easier to accept now but they still disturb me. It's a reminder of what's waiting for me if I pick up again.
