I've been drinking averagely for the past month. Stopping immediatly (with brief small relapses), could cause internal tremors, shakiness, foggy vision or aggitation?
Thanks

I think what you are experiencing is common in early sobriety. Similar things happeded to me. It got better.

Good luck!

After at least 15 years of pretty heavy drinking, I stopped drinking 5 months ago. I was so fortunate not to experience any physical withdrawal whatsoever but I did feel extreme agitation for the first week or three. I was moody and grumpy. It is a life change so I guess some mental adjustment is expected.

Absolutely, if you've been drinking daily - you're likely to experience some withdrawal symptoms, upon stopping. Everything you've described is a normal part of withdrawal.

Yep. I had to check myself into a local hospital for rapid detox back in May and havn't drank since. I know tisk tisk I didn't go through rehab but hey, I did it. They put me on IVs and a high dose of Ativan for discomfort. I slept through it thank god. When I'd try to quit by myself I would get cold sweats, the shakes, severe anxiety. But before I was admitted, I went to the ER where I was treated like **** and sent home. I followed up with my primary care dr the next day and he thought they were crazy for not admitting me because of how dangerous alcohol withdrawal is. He called a different local hospital and had me admitted that day and that's where I detoxed. If you're feeling these symptoms then get to a hospital (unless you don't want to quit). However if you do want to quit and MUST do it yourself then do not quit cold turkey. Taper down! It's much safer and less shock to your body. I'm a medical assistant and whenever a patient comes in from quitting alcohol we send them right to a hospital. Good luck with whatever your decision is!

If you can't taper down on your own, you will most likely need to be admitted medically.
