Hi,
I am new to this section of the forum. Last July my pdoc put me on Ritalin for suspected ADHD and concentration issue. I have been on 60mg a day and 30 -50mg a day in the last two weeks. I was begging to have an addiction to it, taking more than prescribed and even snorting it. My pdoc cut me off Ritalin cold turkey as he believes it is worsening, or even causing the Bipolar mixed state I am in. I have read that there can be serious withdrawals. Has anyone had experiences with going cold turkey of stimulants like ritalin? What happened? By the way, I am IP so have support

I had a few stints with stims. I'd go through my script in a week then sleep for two days and get extremely depressed. They say this symptom could last a year but I got on Wellbutrin for the depression and I'm doing fine. I'm BP and it made me hypo and do stupid stuff. And I'd take so much I'd be sweating and shaking. There's days I'd have to take three showers. Not fun. I used a few weeks ago and had such a bad buzz that I think I'm done messing with the stuff. But it is very addictive and when you quit you'll feel a degree of depression. Who knows we're all different.

My pdoc put me back on a lower dose as I was utterly exhausted and unable to study. He is tapering me off. On 30-40mg a day now but seeing him in a hour and he will probably reduce it further. I just couldn't handle the withdrawals of going off 60mg cold turkey.

I feel sorry you were put in this position. Just remember you are strong and never give in. Look forward 100%.
