I used to get drunk in college quite a lot, sometimes drinking alone and on school nights. Usually due to social anxiety and psychotic delusions. I then stopped for like 5 years. After getting drunk at my sister’s engagement party a couple of weeks ago, I can’t stop thinking about drinking. Is this a thing?

Yeah, it's a thing. No matter how long the break, if you usually get drunk whenever you drink, there is a problem. Do you want to drink for any other reason than getting drunk?

The best solution for you to stop drinking is to eliminate it completely out if your life.

Absence us the essence of self control.

I drank everyday for well over 20 years. But I was on entidepredents and we'll.... the reset is history......

I still get high every second week sobs don't have an expensive habit, not to mention, bad, very bad haha

Yes, wanting to hide it is a really bad sign. I was a closet drinker. Urges to drink are more of a warning if you haven't had drinking trouble. I know people who seem to handle it fine say "I need a drink!" But I would call the way you drank in college a problem.

My coworkers invited me to happy hour but I only want to go so I can drink. But I’d much rather get drunk by myself.

OK, that's problem drinking. That is exactly the thought process I had.

The only thing that's keeping me from drinking is that i love to exercise in the morning, can't do that with a hangover. I hope these feelings go away after a while.

Safety people help me. I joined a regular Wednesday afternoon paddling group for the summer and we go out for dinner and drinks after. I let a couple of people know I am not to drink. I chose people who are not afraid to speak up. That does nothing for the urge to drink alone though. Only discipline or medicine will help with that.

I don't drink by myself. I am a social drinker though I have some social anxiety issues. I drink when MY hubby is there but not when he is away.

I have a confession- I binged drank all this week. I was basically drunk the whole time. But today I decided to pour the rest of the rum down the drain and emailed my mom about this problem. I hope she isn't mad at me.

I feel ridiculous because it only took a couple of me to get sort of emotionally dependent on alcohol, can’t tell people because it isn’t really a problem.

You had a binge and stayed drunk for a week. It's a problem; that's why people can't tell it isn't.
