Okay, I'm addicted to meetings. I actually SOCIALIZED with people today. I had about half a dozen people come up and introduce themselves to me - can't remember names for the life of me, but it's really nice that people actually recognize me from week-to-week. Good speaker again ... and learnt a little about CODA (Co-Dependents Anonymous) which I may look into because it looks like something I might benefit from.

I still promised 6 meetings to my friend before I made a decision...

But the woman I met the first day I went was there today... Meeting #4 I love her, she's so nice to me. She actually drove me home today (instead of me bussing it) and she said she could do it weekly if she was going to the meeting. Awesome! She's got over 30 years of sobriety too. Wowies.

She's invited me to come out next week with another woman I met tonight to celebrate a birthday before the meeting next Monday. I might go ... that would be cool.

I'm almost enjoying this meeting enough I don't want to go elsewhere to check out other meetings. Right now I need stability, and I think I've found that here.

15 days sober as of today. Not really counting, I actually just checked to make sure. Meeting #4 Was so tempted last night, but I didn't... my friend convinced me to watch a movie instead which was actually REALLY fun Meeting #4 Even by myself.

Oh, and I got this cute itty-bitty address book... and continuing to read the Big Book.

Yay Meeting #4

Wow, that is so great! I'm so happy you found this woman you connect with, and who will give you rides to the meeting. How awesome is that?!?!

Thanks for sharing - and congrats on 15 days! Meeting #4

Christina,

That's great. I'm glad you're meeting some nice people. Sounds like you've found a good group. Definitely go to the birthday party if you can, they're fun and a good celebration of sobriety. At my group there always held after the meeting, but we always have cake and stuff.

Glad you're still making it through the big book - I found it really tough to get through the first time. Now I kind of like reading it, although I definitely prefer the 12 steps and 12 traditions (12 and 12 for short) I really like all of the people's stories at the back of the big book.

Thanks for posting an update.

I wish I had your enthusiasm. I think what went through my head was the equivalent of "Oh $#!* that means I'll HAVE to go to meetings every week! I won't be able to avoid them if I'm having a bad time. $*@^! "

hehe. I have a tendency of avoiding things if the going gets rough... Christina gets going. And never goes back. (Oops)

Thanks though Meeting #4 I do like her, she's pretty cool. She even signed my book which was awesome.

The term "birthday" still seems so weird to me... lol. I may go... but only if I'm re-invited and she calls me back. I honestly don't want to go uninvited by all parties involved.

I need to get that book ... I didn't have the money on me at the meeting though (boo). Oh well, I got me some pamphlets and the cute itty-bitty address book (OMIGOSH it's SO CUTE - I think I literally "awwed" when I saw it... I'm weird like that). Meeting #4

You cute thing you. Go to the bday party. Old timers LOVE newbies. They keep 'em fresh and help them keep their sobriety feeling stronger. So, you would be doing THEM a favor. "Ooh...you mean the world doesn't revolve around me???" Meeting #4

Part of the fellowship is giving back....and it's never too soon to start. Allowing people to help you is a way to help THEM!

Big hugs from your annoying (and always right) pal, Slippers

Totally go to the birthday party. Slippers is right old timers love newbies. And it really is the more the merrier. Besides how can you turn down the thought of free cake? It also shows support for the person whose birthday it is. Down here it's always announced at meetings if anyone in any group has a birthday coming up, especially if it's one of the 5 year medallion years, and the expectation is that you want lots of people to show up. I go to a whole buch of different meetings so I'm really hoping lots of people show up for my one year in Nov. (assuming I make it).

(((((((((((((Slippers))))))))))))))) I'm really not cute. Meeting #4 You're always right, hmm? Interesting. Good to know. Meeting #4 Alright, I'll probably go, ok?

(((((((((((splitimage))))))))))))))) You'll make it to your birthday, but one day at a time, hmm? Hey ... I could totally crash your party too and come say hi. Meeting #4 Wouldn't that be fun and odd simultaneously?! Mmmm free cake. I think the difference is that this is a pre-meeting celebration, and then there's the actual celebration IN the meeting as well. I guess I didn't make that clear.

Thanks for the chat tonight... didn't meant to disappear, it's the computer of DOOM!
