Yes, STILL sober.

But.....ucky. My rotten, stinky T wants me to start going to AA meetings, but me no wanna. The last time I did that, I lasted 3 months. The mean nasty wenches Talking at AA meetings who ran the group insisted that I talk. Well, believe it or not, in front of groups I'm really quiet. I can talk in small groups of 5 or 6 people, but any more than that and I'm silent.

So why oh why do we HAVE to share at AA meetings? What is the purpose? Is there any way around it? Like mini-meetings? One-on-one sharing instead??? I'll just pee my pants. And it's cold in those church halls...peesicles would form. How embarrassing!! Talking at AA meetings

I ended up quitting AA last time cuz I couldn't talk in front of that crowd. I actually stayed sober for months afterward....but eventually, well, you know the story.

So, what's the dang deal. Why don't they have AA for scairdy cats? AA for GAD? AA for the socially phobic? AA for weenies????

I thought you didn't have to share at AA meetings? Hmmm.

Your right though. I hate public speaking (little kids aren't public...Talking at AA meetings) and I avoid situations where I might hafta. Too bad they wouldn't just accept the excuse that it might make you fall off the wagon.

Good luck!

I'd try another group. Each one (AA group) is different, while still applying the same principles. There are groups all over.

I am going to try a different group. I had wanted to stick to women only groups, but there are SO few of them. What I need to understand is the WHY part of the talking. I'm sure there is a good reason. And I probably know it and am in denial. Sounds like something my brain would do! Talking at AA meetings

ems, have you "shopped" for a group.....that's what i did for al-anon. the first one was run by a "holier than thou" woman who said "there's no place here for people who's children use drugs!".....i started crying.....but i'm a stubborn ole wench and i found one that accepted everyone and they didn't even SMOKE>......then i founded a Familys Anonymous group here and that works even better for me. so, find another one or start your own group.....they say "where there's 2 people and a coffeepot..it's a meeting!".....xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

And personally, I look best when nakie, and covered with a large Hefty Lawn and Trash bag..... Do you think anyone would invest is a calendar like that? Hmmmmm? Talking at AA meetings

Talking at AA meetings

Hi Emmy,

You know I'm not a big fan of 12-step groups but it occurs to me that you have the potential to hold meetings here. You could set times and even passwords for custom chat rooms and be with friends. Talking at AA meetings

just an idea - you could even wear your plastic bag of choice Talking at AA meetings

Down - Funny you should mention that as I was thinking about it recently. But then I thought...jeepers, that sounds like it would take effort, organization, and maybe even actually KNOWing something about the 12-Steps! Talking at AA meetings Since I seem to be lacking in all 3 areas....um...I can't say I'm up to the job. But, great minds DO think alike!

Thanks fer thinking of me! I guess we'll have to stick with Nakie calendars with paper bags over out heads, etc.
