When my Bipolar is under control I don't have the need or cravings to use.
The longest I have felt fairly normal without Bipolar episodes is three weeks. One day I'm fine, the next day I'm out of control I cannot control my addiction, and before I know it, my mania is back and I want to use to keep me up and running. Its a deadly, frustrating cycle, I can't be consistant. Does anyone have any tips, I already know about NA, and I'm in a 12-step program right now. I dont have any friends because of what I have done in the past. If its not one thing its another! |

Hi I don't have any tip only to get to your doctor because it sounds like your current meds are'nt working. If you still wanting to use because of your bipolar disoreder than it's more likely your meds. I hope you don't pick up again because it will make your mania worse if you do meth. It might not now but it will

I've had the same problem with cannabis, it can cause mania in me but also once I'm going manic I loose my judgement and smoke it which makes me much worse.
I don't think there's any way to avoid it once you're manic, the focus will have to be on not going manic in the first place. For me it mainly involved a good Doctor( and hence medication), this can be difficult especially in out of the way places. Also abandoning the idea that there is anything good about mania was key, for a while I thought it helped with creativity. I know a lot of bipolar people who cling to fantasies that it is a key to something special like genius or being super-entertaining, they keep getting sick. |
