I'm afraid of dying... since I was ten.
I don't know what to do...
now I take meds for anxiety. I wonder how people get fears...

The fear of death is a pretty common fear especially with people that have anxiety. Are you in therapy? I have learned a few coping techniques in therapy for this kind of issue. The big thing is when you have a thought of death, try not to analyze it just notice that you are having the thought without feeding it by buying into it.

I have this same fear, mine stems back from my childhood. Hopefully your meds will start working soon. When my fear starts getting the best of me; I will post on it, and the people on here will help me deal with it. I'm not into therapy, but I think that it sounds like a good idea to try. I hope that you will feel better soon. fear of death...

This is something a psychotherapist can help you with. The answer(s) can be complex and are relieving as well. Fear of death can dissipate along with other fears as you explore your thoughts about this and other fears in an accepting non-judgmental relationship.

It is such an unknown. I understand how this could be. Hoping you are feeling better!

*hugs*

I get scared like that too. Best I can do is try my best to distract myself with the idea that as long as I'm alive NOW I might as well truly LIVE

I'm afraid of death too. I think everyone is afraid to die, some are more afraid than others of course. Death is something we can't change though. We all have to die someday. I think that it's best that death exists. It would be quite boring to live forever. I think anyone would eventually get tired of life.

It's best not to focus too much on death and just make the most of your life while you still have it.

I understand!! This is where the majority of my anxiety/panic stems from. I am so afraid of death that it sends me into a panic. Hang in there! I usually have a glass of wine or watch TV to distract myself. (Doesn't always help though...)

I understand, too. This is probably my major fear. I feel that I have not been good enough in life to have a peaceful death. I hope that I am wrong. I know that the above responders are right that it is best to distract onself. Since we do not know what death brings, please decide that you will not take your own life. I feel that we are here for some purpose, even if it is only to learn through our own pain. If we are in a position to help others that is probably a plus, but if energy is gone, like my own, then learning is reason enough to live through the trials of this world. billieJ

I believe that there is a purpose for your life, even if it is only to learn by living through the trials of this world. Death is to happen in its own time, not when we decide. billieJ
