I'm supposed to be moving to Florida after the first of the year. I am stressing over it soooo bad, causing me a lot of anxiety. For one, I'm afraid I won't have enough money by then to move into my own place but most importantly, i'm scared I won't find the doctors I need within the amount of time I'll have to continue drawing my disability check once I'm down there. I need a roomate down there, need to get my check transferred, find a way that doesn't cost much to get all my stuff down there, gotta find doctors, gotta do all this stuff on my own and I've never had to deal with this much crap before on my own. I feel like my anxiety is about to go through the roof!

How do I handle all this? Anyone ever been in a similar situation and could possibly help? I GOTTA move by the first of the year. I can't continue living in this house much longer. Too many bad memories and too many bad influences around me.

((((((((((((((((bama))))))))))))))))

I recently went through this....actually, I am still going through this.

I moved from VA to TX in August. So much to do, I totally understand.

First off, you need to make a list of everything you need to do, down to the littlest detail.

Then one by one tackle each thing.

As far as the moving expenses themself, my hubby and I rented the truck and moved everything ourself without actually hiring a moving company to do it for us. This saved thousands. Also, start looking for DR's in the area where you are moving now. Call a few, get an estimate on how long it takes to get in for an appointment and so on.

You can do this. I know you can. It is nerve racking and I agree with you, it caused me an overload of anxiety. Moving is always stressful. Just take things one thing at a time. OK.

Blowing some luck your way ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Bama,

I just moved from Tucson to Portland, OR two months ago and I understand your overwhelm. The internet is what helped me have a smooth move. The list making is a good idea, and to keep your list managable, use index cards with only 5 items on each card. Your goal should be to accomplish 5 things every day or so, and don't stress if you only get 3 done. Just add the other two to next days list and go from there. It's very overwhelming to look at a list that has 60 items on it. As for finding a roommate, check Craigslist.com. And as for finding T's and docs, ask around on this list. I bet there are people on here who are in the area you're going to. Post a message on a General message board and see if you get some feedback.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask your loved ones for help when you need it. Big moves are not meant to be done single-handedly.

Good luck! You're a Survivor! You can do it.

Thank you jmo and kel. ((((((jmo and kel))))))

The list sounds like a good idea, I'll do that for sure. I'm planning on moving my stuff myself as well, not using a moving company, it costs way too much. I'll also post in General. Dunno what exactly to say? But I will. Craigslist.com? That's a good site for finding roomies? Great!

I have a meeting with the people over my disability check in November or December. When I go for my interview, do I tell them I'm needing my check transferred to Florida beginning in Jan or Feb and tell them it'll take some time finding a pdoc and T? I've never had to do all this before and my mom doesn't want me moving to Florida so she said I had to do this on my own. It's scary doing all this all by myself and not knowing if I'm going to be able to make it on my own. But I have to. My daddy said I wouldn't make it 2 weeks on my own. I can't let him win over me.

I would call the county in FL where you are moving and see if they can refer you to a PDoc and T there. That way, you will alreasy have that set up, or at least in the works. When I come up with more ideas or suggestions I will post them or PM you about it. OK.

Bama, you are gonna get through this fine. OK. Just one thing at a time. We are here to help Anxiety out the roof!

Do you have anyone IRL you can chat to?

This seems like a very stressful situation, but it sounds like it will be a transient one. When it's over, give yourself a massive reward, you'll have earnt it. Financial pressures are extremely taxing. I had one a month ago and I just wanted to die. But what would the point of that be if the problem was going to be short lived anyway? All I had to do was hang in there.

justaman, yes, I know many people down in Florida. I met many from this website I'm a member of and then in May went down to have a get together with a lot of them and again last week. Some are trying to help me but haven't helped very much so far. Most of them have kids they tend to and a couple are married who's husbands or wifes don't want them getting in "other peoples business". There's a couple though who are trying really hard to find out info for me.

jmo, I'm going to try calling around some this week and see if I can find out about pdocs and T's.
